Thanks to Degarth for this one1 This opens with a big frothy head over a medium yellow body. Aroma consists of apples, fruit and some spice. The thin, watery palate brought little of what was promised in the aroma. Very restrained level of flavor really disappointed. Light and refreshing, nothing here to offend, just not a very robust flavor for a Belgian Ale.

Bottle. Poured a clear yellow with a huge frothy white head that left big chunky lacing. Aromas of citrus, clove, and banana. The flavor found light citrus and dehydrated bananas. The flavor was pretty subdued. Light body and a watery texture. It was enjoyable with the subdue flavor it was a let down. Thanks to Springslicker for bringing this one out for the Tennessee Tasting!

Bottle. Pours blonde-golden yellow with bubbly white head. The aroma is very full, with banana yeast, some lemon zest, and some bread. However, the flavor doesn’t live up to the aroma. There’s bread and lemon zest there, but it still seems kind of hollow, like it’s missing something. Still a decent ale, but I must say I’m a little disappointed.

Thanks to Degarth for providing the bottle, or maybe it was Matta. I can’t remember, but thanks to whoever it was. Poured cloudy yellow with a white head. Aroma was very yeasty, so much wheat that I thought I was in a field of it, some slight banana and malts. Flavor was candy sugar wheats. Very sweet, smooth and malty.

(750ml bottle) Pours a lightly cloudy orange body with a moderate white head. Aroma of mustiness, banana, orange peel, and florals. Flavor of spicy yeast, earthiness, and mild apple.

Cloudy golden color, large white head that hung around for a nice long time then faded slowly to a decent lace. The aroma was citrusy and maybe a hint of spice in there as well with a some what sweet side coming through as well. The flavor was unexpected.Nicely malty with a decent over ripe fruit side coming through as it passsed the mid point and finished up with aslight bitter side and after taste of fruit and mild alcohol. Not bad at all in fact better then i was expecting, well worth trying again.

750mL Bottle (all to myself, mwuahahaha!): Clear copper, body with simmering carbonation level. Extremely retentive sticky head and awesome lacing. Nose of orange, cheet grass, candi sugar, horsey yeast and coriander bugs. Distant earthy hobles dance with the citrus. On the palate is a refreshing zesty and sweet combo that sings belgian. A little bitterness and alcohol seep into the back end. The finish is a bit underripe but tangy and good for a lighter belgian ale.

UPDATED: SEP 27, 2005 Very nice looking ale, slightly murky yet bright golden with a good sized creamy, thick head, great lace down the glass. Quite a good aroma, soft and lemony in aspect but with medicinal and flowery undertones. quite a nice flavour too slight maltiness to start then taken over by a great herbal spicy bitterness that lasts till near the back of the tongue then it mellows out comfortably for a smooth almost mellow finish..with lingering spice in the throat. Very good mouthfeel very "eventful". I found this an excellent ale and for a half descent price. Great summer beer.

5000 (6300) - Hardened Liver, Washington, USA - AUG 18, 2005
UPDATED: AUG 19, 2005 Bottle: Dirty golden, very hazy, huge rocky white head, fantastic lacing, strong carbonation. Dunno how this beer could appear any better. Soft zesty citrus based aroma, very slight floral or perhaps lavender tinge. Somewhat dull spiced start, not as floral or bright as the aroma. A bit musty, barnish, finishing with a touch of apple or pear skin. Somewhat of an odd duck in that aspect. Body and mouthfeel are full to moderate. I find this much better than Angelique or Diabolique. I have yet to try Mystique. I’d easily have this again.
