Golden amber with a lot of carbonation. Medium head that lingers. Aroma is of leather and fruit. Flavor is honey and over-rippended apricots and gamey. Too sweet with a apple cider cloyingness. Works as a desert beverage.

Sampled at Stone’s Sour Festival, July 2007 Poured golden yellow with little head. I was taken aback by the aroma, and had to hand it off the a friend to make sure i hadn’t stepped in something. The aroma was that of a freshly fertilized garden. Put another way. It smelled like manure and flowers. The flavor wasn’t too shitty, but still a bit strange. very earth and tart with some spiceness too. I gald I had the experince, but I don’t think I’d have it again, except to mess with someone.

Bottle labeled "Reinaert." Wild yeast with some earth tones on the nose. Corn... grilled corn on the cob. Very sweet nose with a hint of sourness. Pours Gold with a creamy white head. Champagne like effervescense. Decent lacing. Quite dry on the palate despite the sweet nose. Yeast both sour and dry. Just a hint of honey sweetness. Decent carbonation with a fairly rich mouthfeel.

in the bottle at beertopia shelton brothers sample night. Pig Nun- a candy jolly rancher green apple aroma with a splash of peach. pours a hazy bright gold with a medium white head. has a blast of toasted sesame seeds to the flavor. a haystack straw aroma. at the finish the beer tastes like you are eating crackers - wow! Spoon Whacker - pours a hazy gold with a musty aroma. has a thin off-white head. the mid palate is toasted. the tart finish is very aspirin-like. the ethanol burn on the tongue is big. this is a good beer.

Musty aroma, light golden color, thick white head with heavy carbonation. Taste is almost like cork with a medicinal yeastiness.

Nice and different Belgian Strong ale. Not the usual over carbonated yeasty fruity stuff (not that it’s bad...but change is good). Aroma of hops, diaper bags and sugar. Pour was a dark orange with a nie 3 finger white head that laced most of the glass. Taste was medium carbonated, tart in the back of your throat and spicy. Nice and dry in the finish with a ever so slight alcohol burn in the back.

Pinhead label. Big rocky white head over a clear bright yellow unfogged body. The nose is sweet with light malt combining with what I think is a bit of slightly skunked Saaz hops. A bit of alcohol joins in the aroma to make a juicy sort of note. Kind of reminds me of Urthel Hop It. Creamy and chewy with a viscous mouthfeel, while still fairly lively and not overdone with the carbonation. Big sweet light malt. A bit of a cinnamon sort of spice, but really not a hint of dark malt, not that I miss it here. Herbal hops a lot like Urthel Hop It, a little skunk. A bit of Belgian fruity funk, but not much. A clean sweet alcoholic finish. Little Diacetyl. A lingering anise and herbal hop element. Not bad at all, I’d like to try it fresher... or maybe a less hopped recipe. 6-17-07 Bottled as Reinaert Flemish Wild ale. This was very similar to my previous experience, though the beer was much more like Orval or Duvel than the "pinhead" I had. The hops are more subdued and those peppery saaz are not skunked either. The head doesn’t seem as rocky, though the beer looks the same. The sweetness seems to have been taken in a bit with a spiceyness added. I like this a bit more, though it’s not as daring as the previous beer. I was bummed that this turned out to be another Flemish Primitive, but it’s a bit better, so oh well.
