750 ml corked and caged bottle, labeled as Reinaert Wild Ale. Aroma is bretty, cheesy, dusty, cotton candy, bready, piss--really funky. Pours hazy cantaloupe with a large white head with excellent retention; leaves some sheeting lace. Taste is extremely yeasty, wheat cracker, lemon rind, piss. Ends on a lightly hoppy bitter note. This is crazy weird shit. Highly carbonated. This literally smells and tastes like piss. WTF? At first it just smelled like a nice bretty wild ale, then this piss character presented itself. Iím not talking about a nice catboxy American hop character, but like a dirty menís urinal piss smell. I thought it would go away, but it just got stronger. Seriously, what the fucking hell? Second thoughts, 10 minutes later: the piss character plateaued and then dropped finally. Itís still there, but itís not as off-putting. These are the most fluctuating scores Iíve ever given to a beer, I think. I had it in the upper 3ís, then dropped it all the way down to 2.2, then I raised it up to 2.9. Sit, Ubu, sit! Good fox.

UPDATED: JUL 4, 2014 Heavy on the Brett, with lots of barnyard/funk and sour flavor. I thought it would be more like a sour red/brown in terms of appearance, but instead it was a very cloudy, light gold color. Unlike a sour red/brown, this one doesnít seem to have undergone any barrel aging. It doesnít quite fit any one style, with some characteristics of a saison as well as a geueze. High ABV for a wild/sour ale. Very good. Re-rate: had the Reinaert Wild Ale, which apparently is yet another version of this beer. This time it was stronger with more pepper. Very dry, but without much funk. Hoppy for a Belgian. A bit of a letdown this time around, like a bunch of different styles mixed together without a clear direction.

Fruity aroma. Clearly based on Belgian ales. Sour lemony flavor with some citrus bitterness.
