UPDATED: JUL 4, 2014 Heavy on the Brett, with lots of barnyard/funk and sour flavor. I thought it would be more like a sour red/brown in terms of appearance, but instead it was a very cloudy, light gold color. Unlike a sour red/brown, this one doesnít seem to have undergone any barrel aging. It doesnít quite fit any one style, with some characteristics of a saison as well as a geueze. High ABV for a wild/sour ale. Very good. Re-rate: had the Reinaert Wild Ale, which apparently is yet another version of this beer. This time it was stronger with more pepper. Very dry, but without much funk. Hoppy for a Belgian. A bit of a letdown this time around, like a bunch of different styles mixed together without a clear direction.

A very Brett heavy slightly wild ale. Touch of sour but very heavy with a bitter Brett on the back end.

Bottle sample at the tasting in Beer&Beyond shop. Clear golden with a small white head. Aroma of Belgian yeast and fruits. Taste - sweet, fruity and spicy, light sourness with orange zest mild bitter finish. Medium-bodied, soft carbonation, alcohol is well hidden for 9%. Nice.

P: A cloudy pale golden body with loads of speckled floaters dangling at the bottom giving off effervescent magic. Topped with a creamy froth of rocky white glory. S: Sweet fruits, mango, papaya, pineapple, tart cherries, soft packing foam, funky old pawn shop aroma, pond water, slight booze presence and berry wheat bread. T/M: Harsh grainy spice hits the back of the throat instantly. First drink is like a mouth full of dirt. Dirty barnyard flavor, cinnamon, pepper, chalky yeast, strong tea tannins and grapefruit. Fruit flavors come out more once warm and the dirt profile drops off a tad. Finishes dry with a filmy coating similar to eating sharp cheddar. The aftertaste reminds me if cajun style boiled peanuts. O: I love the funky barnyard addition to the hearty spice bill. This is a sure sipper that packs a punch. The ABV snuck up on me quick due to not being present in the taste. All in all a great brew.

Had as Reinaert Wild Ale. 750ml corked and caged bottle into a trappist glass. Served cool. Aroma: Fruity, jammy. Thereís a little bit our sourness in the aroma, but itís very subdued. Very unique, and very good! Appearance: Very hazy, near opaque honey-toned body. No head at all, even with an aggressive pour. Taste: A little sour at first. Thereís some spice and apple flavors present. All blends quite nicely. Really wonderful! Palate: Medium body with a very long, mildly tart finish. Overall: What a pleasant surprise! A good beer for people looking to try a sour-ish ale; this one wonít scare them off. Wonderful, wonderful brew.

Tap at Grill Next Door. Pours yellow gold with a lacy white head. Aroma is peppery, floral. Flavor is wheat, very slight sour, some resin bitter to the finish.
