Surly Bird - very interesting, paired well with my Cuban samich. Has that Belgian yeast sourness to it, but very subtle. Nice palate, hint of hop in the finish. Impressed.

On tap, "Surly Bird" version. Mildly hazy pale golden color. Thin white head, leaves good lace. Good smooth, sort of soft, bright lighter carbonation. Slightly bigger body, but not 9% big. Good citrusy, lightly funky, sort of lemon, light grassy hop aroma. Maybe just a light bit of lemony cleaner type flavor. Moderate tart taste, moderate bitter - those extra finishing hops are noticeable, and very nice. Makes for a very unusual, pleasant easy drinking wild ale.

Bottle pour golden with lots of sediment. Nose some sour, fruit and ester. Taste sweet up front, fruit ester, ending with some sour and bitter. Nice progression of flavor.

750mL shared at Woodshop 8. Pours a full haze peach pour with okay foam. Nose is super sticky twizzlers, sweet potato. Taste is minerally, soapy, sticky...tastes like a drained, infected barleywine. Biting palate with heavy minerals.

Reinaert Flemish Wild Ale version in 11.2oz bottle. At mid-range for the style. Not as sour or complex as I anticipated and was hoping for. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

11.2 ounce bottle poured into a brandy snifter. Pours a sediment ridden, translucent copper with a white head of foam. The aroma is a strong tart fruity orange zest note. Some dry, herbal notes linger in there, too. The taste is more of a dry, herbal, minty sweetness. Pretty surprised that the tartness in the nose, as strong as it was, just didnít translate into tartness in the taste. Dry finish. Spritzy mouthfeel.some heat pricks the back of the throat after the swallow.

On tap at Capones. Pours a very hazy yellowish orange with dense off-white head that held. Aroma is tart and sour with a hint of orange peel. Taste of sweet malts and apples upfront that were overpowered by bitter hops and dry alcohol. Wood and sweet vanilla rose up on the finish. The alcohol was pretty strong and lingered well into the aftertaste. Medium body with spritzy carbonation.

On tap @ Beachwood Brewing. Orange-ish pour with a white head. Nose is sort of sweet up front with some pale malt notes. Light lemon, some leather, grass, and light floral notes. The flavor is lightly tart and fairly dry. Lots of leathery Brett notes, a bit of grass, and some lemon zest. Light malt sweetness. Not bad.
