sundevil27 (45), , New Jersey, USA May 1, 2009 The best part about this beer is the nose. I can’t pin point it, but definitely contains all sorts of fruits/citrus. While I’m not a huge fan of the style, this one has a nice balanced flavor that I enjoy.
Overall a solid purchase. twitcher (293), framingham, Massachusetts, USA Apr 20, 2009 bottle- Surly Bird.
Light golden color- gentle pour still yeilds lots of particles in suspension. Big fluffy off white head, thin layer that sticks sround forever. Smell is loads of fruity sticky sweetness, tangerines and spicy coriander, some light funky tartness in the background. Flavor... wow. All over the place. Funky tartness and some light spicy bitterness. heavy sticky sweetness. Initial tart funkyness gets overpowered by sticky booze sweetness. Lots of interesting stuff on the flavor, but to much of tat booze sweetness. Entirely worthwhile to sample a glass, but not worth drinking extensively. Palate follows the flavor- starts crisp and funky, suffers from the booze on the end. Interesting. elihapa (1033), Honolulu, California, USA Apr 18, 2009 Bomber from Forest City. Pours blonde with a nice fluffy head. Aroma is funky, with pear, and yeast. Palate is refreshingly crisp. Flavors are funky, barnyard, champagne, citrus and yeast. Finishes dry. Very refreshing, and well balanced, tartness and citrus wed with a touch of sweetness. glennmastrange (807), hobe sound, Florida, USA Apr 15, 2009 Bottle. Moderate malt aroma of cereal, lemon for the hops, and light barnyard for the yeast, with pear, white wine and wood in the background. Head is small, fizzy, white with fair lacing and is mostly diminishjng. Color is hazy orange/tan with an average amount of medium sized particles. Flavor starts lightly sweet and moderately acidic, then finishes lightly acidic. Palate is medium, watery with a lively carbonation and finishes dry. A nice mix of fruity aromas and a refreshing flavor makes this a pretty good Belgian Strong. padrefan98 (787), (San Diego) Santee, California, USA Apr 6, 2009 Bottle purchased at Beverages for Less in Santee. Decent aromas of spice and clove, and some sour funk in the taste. Nice flavors overall. danielcurtis81 (879), San Diego, California, USA Apr 5, 2009 330 mL Bottle. Labeled Reinaert Flemish Wild Ale from the Brewmaster’s Collection. Pours a very pale hazy yellow/orange (almost a grapefruit juice) with a big bubbling white head. Nose is initially really sour then becomes more bready. Very bready flavors with a bit of spice to it. Taste almost like menthol or some sort of bad lip balm. Mouth is really carbonated. The carbonation really makes it hard for me to taste any of the flavors. Leaves a full sticky after taste. Very warm in the belly. This is not my cup of beer. JoeTheYounger (218), California, USA Mar 29, 2009 Tried this at DuffManSW’s beer tasting party. Cloudy golden yellow color with a very thin head. Belgium yest smell with hints of band-aid and Trojan wrappers. Initial taste of Belgium flavor with after taste of ass. It’s very weird and medicinal. Hophead22 (1056), Redlands, by way of Wisconsin,, California, USA Mar 28, 2009 750ml bottle at DuffManSW’s. Hazy light gold color. lots of funk in this one with the usual Belgian characteristics. Not a big fan of this, but glad to have treid.
