Aroma is initially a little sour, then follows wih fruit and floral. Flavor is a funky mix of fruit, hops, floral, with a skunky finish. Odd but not bad. Mouthfeel is average, medium density. Different, but pretty decent if you can get past the astringent tone throughout the flavor. Overall, good plus. jmuhops (663), Winchester, Virginia, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 5, 2006 Pours hazy straw with a large white head that takes awhile to recede. Yeasty, spicy aroma, with a good deal of cat pee. There is a light citrus and bubblegum smell beneath it all, right on top of a very light vinegar-like sourness. Very spicy start to the flavor. Then the candy sweetness and Flemish Sour Ale sourness duke it out until they’re too tired to stand up to the yeast/hop mixture that comes in at the end and beats them to death. Very dry finish. Interesting conflict between the sweet and the sour. talon1117 (634), Bellvue, Colorado, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 9, 2009 FP0108? Rat Rider, I believe. Pours a cloudy, pale golden color with sediment and a huge, white, rocky, creamy head which diminishes in time to a very thin, lasting layer and leaves sporadic lace. Nose is interesting and "scattered" with brett notes; spicy alcohol almost white pepper-like, juicy lemons with a light tartness, light candi sugar, light grains, dusty yeast, light spicy dry hops, and lots of barnyard and horse blanket. Flavor is similar with still a lot of horse blanket and barnyard funk, light grains and light candi sugar, tart and juicy lemons, some hay, dusty yeast, and spicy dry hop notes all the way through the finish. Palate is nearly medium, drying, lively, but not at all warm. Finishes dry with plenty of hay, barnyard, and horse blanket, tart lemons, some dusty yeast, and the spicy dry hop notes lingering bringing a moderate bitterness. An interesting use of brett but the dominating horse blanket notes were a bit overwhelming. There was just not enough other prominent flavors to match those notes. Very complex and drinkable and certainly interesting but only adequate for me. milewide (625), Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 23, 2005 Pour is hazy golden with a bubbly, fizzy white head. Appearance resembles a triple somewhat. Aroma is very fruity and spicy. Taste is somewhat like a triple as well, spicey, light body, but also adds some sour barnyard goodness to the mix. THis beer leaves an odd sour feel on the tougue. bleeng (601), Spring near Beersel, Texas, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 5, 2008 750 bottle bought in Kansas City MO. Reinaert Wild Ale. Pours hazy gold with a small, lacy head. Nose is musty, funky, horse-blanket, brett?? Nose of a saison, not a strong ale. Taste of spices, funkiness, wheat, yeast, nice hop profile, alcohol is present but not overwhelming. A bit sweet but bitter on the end. Nice, foamy, full mouth. Almost a summer beer despite the alcohol level. This is an excellent beer-this is one of the Belgium styles I like best-better than the candi sugar sweet beers that are predominent in Belgium. I’ll buy more of these next time I’m in KCMO. Rustyham (598), miami, Florida, USA

There is a sweet smell of bitterhops, minor malt, rasberry flavors, and hints of clove. As you drink it there is strong hints of clove and bitter tart flavors. The after taste is very bitter and sticks around for a while. It also has a minor jerkey smell and flavor as you drink it.
