Indra (1825), Prairie Village, Kansas, USA Jul 2, 2008 750ml bottle, standard text label, none of the artwork shown here. Full-on funky aroma, full of wild yeast character, brett and medicinal phenols, berryish fruit, wood and grainy malts. Cloudy medium golden color, well sedimented, with a subsiding, sparse head. Flavor is surpringly light and fruity for a beer of this magnitude, malty, sweet farmy and funky again, overall nicely balanced and flavorful for all its wildness, the brett there at the finish providing dryness and balance. Mouthfeel is smoothly effervescent and full, body is likewise full and generous. Alcohol is really a non-factor, surprisingly. Really very tasty. Thanks Chris!
milewide (486), Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA Aug 19, 2008 Funky, sour yeast taste up front followed by excellent hop bitterness. On close-out for $15/6 750 ml bottles. Solid body, and cloudy blond color. Case is stamped "72", whatever that means. WISEGUY572 (1099), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 13, 2008 Cloudy organge, good head, moderate lacing. Nose of yeast, grass, apples, and slight funk. Taste is sweet and citrus at the same time. I think mine must have been one of the later editions, because it was most definitely well hopped. It was described as "number 5" which probably means demon fish. hophead75 (1648), Boonton, New Jersey, USA Aug 11, 2008 Hazy orange in color with a medium off white head that dissipates, some floaters. Aroma: caramel, funk, some sour fruit- apples and light citrus. Taste is moderately funky with barnyard, a touch of sweaty socks and cheese, a decent amount of caramel sweetness, and a lightly hoppy bitter finish. johntreeter (86), Greenwood, Indiana, USA Aug 10, 2008 Rat Rider. Pours a hazy golden orange with particles. A thin head that did leave some lacing. Lots of bread and malt in the nose. Heavy in the flavor as well with a slight spicyness and long soft sour and peppery ending. Med body, lively carb, wet texture, and dry feel. Interesting and different with depth in flavor. dkachur (723), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA Aug 8, 2008 Bottle, Reinaert label, from Whole Foods Market Charlottesville. Hazy orange with small black particles and a thin head. Aroma is full of funkiness with some stone fruit, apple and caramel notes. Funkiness is present in the taste, but to a much smaller degree. Caramel and fruity notes are also present in the taste. Thick texture, but also a little bit of a papery feel (not oxidation).
