Yeasty Belgian nose with lots of fruit. Fruity and sweet flavor, maybe an undercurrent of pepper buried under the malt. Great looking with gorgeous lacing. Mild dry finish. Fantastic. flemdawg (485), Naples, Florida, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 3, 2007 11.2 oz size bottle. Hazy yellowish orange body with a fluffy white head that left good lacing all the way down the glass. A very bready/yeasty aroma with banana, honey, flowers and lemony citrus notes as well. The taste was again dominated by the yeast, but there were a good dose of bananas and a slightly floral taste right before a midly bitter finish. Finishes crisp and clean. Not too bad. | 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Dec 30, 2006 Poured from 11.2oz bottle. Aroma of angel food cake. Cloudy, golden, with white, persistent head. A bit of sediment floating around. Hard to describe the flavor - almost like a lemon meringue taste. Pepper/spice and alcohol in the back. Plenty of lacing. This one made my day. cyanescens (156), Seattle, Washington, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 5, 2006 A very yummy Abbey Tripel. Nothing to out there, medium body. The beer is golden with white foamy head. Fairly sweet, but not overkill. Mediocre. Id recommend it I suppose... notalush (2648), Denver, Colorado, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Nov 30, 2006 Bottle from Santa - hazy golden pour, with quite a soapy head on it - aroma of lemon, coriander, some lavender, and honey - floral flavors and honey sweetness up front - followed by a mellow, peppery spiciness - tastes more like a sweet version of a saison than a tripel - not terribly complex, but quite refreshing. nick76 (2657), Tampa, Florida, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 9, 2006 The aroma is fruity-citrusy, yeasty, and malty with a biscuit quality. The appearance is deep hazy gold with a nice sized white head. The flavor is like the aroma which is nice but it lacks any punch. The palate is OK but a little thin. The finish is peppery. This is probably the best Belgian beer for those who like less bang to their beer. bhensonb (4248), Woodland, California, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Nov 2, 2006 Refreshing yeasty aroma with hints of citrus. Nicely translucent golden color with a thin white head and significant lacing. Starts with spicy notes, develops different spicy notes, a sort of peppery effect towards the finish. Medium body. Seems a bit different with each quaff. Perhaps a bit flat in the end, but this flat is so much more complex than most ales. Perhaps one of the better of the many De Proef ales. Definitely pepper towards the end. Arayaga2 (952), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 6, 2006 Aroma of spiced lemon zest emanates from the inch of white head atop this hazy pale orange brew. Taste is somewhat acetic with an indistinct spice yeast combination. Not a favorite. $4/11.2ozs
