De Proef Lunatique (Cuvee Diabolique)

Pours golden with a quickly receding slightly off-white head, but high effervescense keeps a small layer on top. Good malty fruity and spicy aroma, along with some yeast, and a little bit of sourness in the aftertaste.. Body is phenomenol, spicy and a little sweet, but a little thin for this abv. However, i like it being a little thin, as it makes a beer like this a little more drinkable, with less fatigue. Not a bad attempt at a belgian style tripel.

330ml bottle. hazy orange with a huge bubbly head and some wicked carbonation. yeasty sweet aroma and spice. nice fizzy mouthfeel from the bubbles. fruit sweetness in the flavor with a quick drying finish. well balanced but the dryness in the finish was a bit too powerful and flavor draining for me.

4/20/05 750ml. Hazy Golden with small white head. Sour musty aroma Sweet Fruity yeasty taste with good mouthfeel Good dryness and luckily not the usual odd ending bitterness De Proef beers usually have.

Pours golden with a wide bubbled, white, mrengue-like head. Aroma of pear, coriander, apple. Taste is soft with small bubbles on tongue, luxurious mouth feel. Taste is the asaid fruits. Malty, sweet and spicy. Well balanced. Solid representation of the stout.

Well I’m pleased with this initial aroma, very fruited dominated by pear cider, some canned peaches, and a spciy yeastiness that reveals possible coriander and rye bread. Flavor is a nice fluffy Duvel like clone with a big malty sugary sweetness, restrained peachy fruitiness, with a semi-dry finish that features a tingle of yeast and wee hops. Easy drinking and well balanced with the alcohol. Bright golden color with a fluffy white head and heavy meringue like lacing.

86th percentile? Really? No, I don’t think so. Not a real good trip, as far as I’m concerned. Also, I was wasted when I had it.

I really liked this beer. It has a spicy fruit flavor with a hint of honey. It poured a hazy deep gold color with a two finger cream colored head. As others have said, the mouth feel is a bit thin for a tripel.
