COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brian O’Reilly of Sly Fox Brewing Company joins Dirk Naudts to create the fifth brew in the De Proef Brewmaster’s Collaboration series. This year’s collaboration celebrates the great brewing cultures of both Philadelphia and Gent.

Broederlijke Liefde (Brotherly Love) is a slightly higher gravity interpretation of the saison style. It is fermented with two yeasts – a classic saison yeast as well as brettanomyces from an original gravity of 1066 (16.5 plato). These yeasts yield a dry and slightly spicy ale with a strong hint of farmhouse character that will continue to develop with age. The use of Target and Styrian Golding hops at 37 IBUs add floral aromatics and a balancing bitterness.

Broederlijke Liefde if the official Belgian collaboration ale of Philly Beer Week 2011. If you can’t join us in Philadelphia for our annual celebration in June please enjoy this creation in your own celebration of the international brewing community.

Bottle shared by BeerandBlues2: Pours a clear pale golden with a stringy-lacing white head. Has a lightly sweet pale malty nose with some biscuity notes and light fruity esters. Starts with pretty good fullness and a mild biscuity malty sweetness with a earthy bittering hoppiness before a drier, biscuity finish.

Scooped this up at Sam’s when it was there for a minute. The last couple of Proef collabs haven’t quite been up to the initial mark established with Signature, but this one was quite fine. Almost milky, cloudy orange pour with a moderate head. Lovely house yeast and brett in the nose along with some malts, peppery spice, and herbal notes. Flavors are initially a tad malty but then the beer transforms into something nicely dry and funky, with flower petals, citrus rind, and peppercorn melding well. Enjoyable, and could develop nicely over time too.

Bottle. [thanks after4ever]
Light hazy golden with a big, frothy, white head. Fair lacings. Aroma is lovely, floral, bretty, white pepper, doughy malts, light vinious, roses, light coriander. Medium to low carbonation, fine creamy and quite dry mouthfeel. Flavour is dry, bretty for sure, some white pepper, light vinious, good herbal and floral dryness. Roses, tulips, coriander. Lingering, warming, peppery finish. Lovely beer.

2012-01-06. Crisp dark yellow body with a large frothy white head. 3+ Modest aroma, lightly dusty pale malt, muted but interesting sort of fruity/floral touch and light alcohol. 6+ Flavour is lightly alcoholic, pale malt, light bitterness. 6+ Average plus palate. Decent, drinkable but unexciting. Bottle from swoopjones via HTH and Blankboy

Thanks to Swoopjones. Appearance: clear light orange, tiny white head. Aroma: marigolds, yeast, a little cheesy, slightly acidic. Flavour: Nice yeastiness at first, tangy hoppiness, a little alcohol, spicy, long bitter finish. Not bad. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
