On tap at Capone’s. Poured an amber color with a small sized head. Aromas of citrus, some vanilla, vinegar, and wood. Tastes of vinegar (lots and lots more than the aromas), vanilla, citrus, and green apples. Tart finish.

Cloudy orange with white head and effervescent body. Sour apple and oak aroma. Very pleasant tartness with cherry, lemon and woody esters. A really nice sour red ale

Hazy dark golden color with a small, white head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of vinegar, citrus, vanilla, lighter fruits, bacteria, and wood. Taste of citrus, red wine vinegar, fruit, green apple, bacteria, and a tart finish.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 MartinT (6928) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - NOV 24, 2012
My Bottom Line:
Peach skin, citrus fruit and floral honey envelop the wilderness in this friendly but otherwise unmemorable brew.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A sheet of foam tops the hazy amber.
-The natural carbonation is comfortable, making the wild yeast flavors appear easygoing.
-Even though I enjoyed this and recognize it is well made, I finished my glass feeling that this brew offered less than the sum of its parts.
Bottle.

Draft at capones with Vinny, Alan, and bill. Pours a clear amber body with light lacing. Aroma is tart acidity and light fruit. Mouthfeel I start with notes of ripe fruit, sour funk and light sweetness. Very good.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 PhillyCraft (1959) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 24, 2012
Sample with James, Bill and Allen at the Black Friday event. Orange amber pour. Notes of grapes, cherry, light caramel, oak, and real funky yeasts. Smaller notes of raisin and peachy tanins. Much nicer then the De Proef version in my opinion. Earlier Rating: 8/23/2012 Total Score: 3.2 Bottle. Pours clearish copper with small tightly bubbled white head, fresh lacing. Aromas are pine, wood, funk, dried sour fruit. Taste is sour apricots, wood, cherry, apple but then finishes with a very rusty flavor. That copperness did go away as it warmed. Pretty tart and funky but weird at the same time, its needs to mature a bit. Not bad.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 madvike (2066) - Middleton, Wisconsin, USA - NOV 23, 2012
Bottle - Pours clear amber with a thin white head. Nose is nice fruity maltiness, light cherry, a bit of caramel, a bit of tartness. The Fred is there, but the Flanders is probably a bit overpowering. Fruity as hell--cherry and tropical fruit, with a bit of sweet malt. Not hoppiness, and no booze at all. Good stuff. A bit thinner than I expected, with a touch of carbonation.

From the bottle, lemon and peppery spice with some sour notes in the nose. Some funk as well, it is nice with some tart and sour goodness. Lovely brew!

750 ml corked and caged bottle. Brewed March 2012, so this is eight months old. Pours hazy orange with a medium beige head that leaves sheeting lace after it falls. Aroma is funky, peppery, caramelly, dark fruits, lemon rind. Taste is sour and acidic, not quite mouth-puckering, but more tart than most Flanders sours I’ve had (ie. Duchesse De Bourgogne or Rodenbach). Finishes with a little tannic bitterness. Mouthfeel is too foamy, in my opinion, body is medium to full. I like regualr old Fred better, but this is definitely interesting. I did not enjoy Flanders Fred with food or friends because this is my dinner and I’m a greedy bastard.
