I’m not the biggest fan of the lighter belgians so I’m sure that affected my rating... that being said, it has wonderful carbonation and a sweet bread character that makes it pretty drinkable. It was nice to have a little citrusy hop flavor in the undertones as well. I did not expect that from the style. Good beer but just not really my cup of tea

A pleasant bready, belgian yeast, a little citrus, some hops, and sweetness from the malt. Mellow.
3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 GT2 (3972) - Washington DC, USA - AUG 25, 2009
750 mL into Duvel tulips (shared). Pours a clear, deep orange/amber with a three-finger yellowish head that has excellent retention and leaves some fair lacing. Aroma is candi sugar, cherry Twizzlers, strawberry pancake syrup, amaretto. Really just smells like a stale DIPA. Taste is chewy caramel, marzipan, light candied fruits and finishes with spicy white pepper, cloves, and warming alcohol. Tossing the yeast in brings this beer to a deep orange/brown with a seriously long-lasting head. Much of the artificial strawberry character is gone replaced by spicy hops, more white pepper, and some resiny bitterness. Very odd but enjoyable.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 hellomynameis (868) - Mayer, Minnesota, USA - AUG 21, 2009
Slightly hazy light yellow with a small foamy head. Semi citrusy and grainy nose. Feels a bit watery but not terribly thin. Lots of grain flavour in here with a bit of tartness.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 glennmastrange (1638) - hobe sound, Florida, USA - AUG 20, 2009
Bottle. Moderate roasted and caramel notes for the malt, orange and dough for the hops and yeast, with background notes of date, apple, wine, coriander and allspice. Head is thin, wispy, off-white with minimal lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is hazy/murky orange/tan. Flavor starts lightly sweet and moderately acidic, then finishes lightly sweet and acidic. Palate is medium, oily with a carbonation between lively and soft. Complex and easy to drink, with great balance makes this a pretty good Belgian Strong Ale.

Pours a murky orange color with a big rocky white head. Aroma was citrus, barnyard, yeast and a bit of malt. Flavor was very bready, citrusy, some nice Brett notes with a solid twang. Nice beer.
4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Goldorak (439) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - AUG 3, 2009
Murky, copper orange brew with a thin ring of pearly white lace.
Farmhouse twang is evident, but isn’t overly powerful. There’s also an interesting mix of bready yeast and that "corked" aroma for lack of a better term. The aroma is probably what I liked best about this Beer.
Decent carbonation, it starts with a bit of bicuity malt flavor and and finishes dry and somewhat acidic, making quite refreshing. There was just a tiny bit of booze that creeps up in the aftertaste, not a bad thing mind you.
I’m not the biggest fan of DeProef Beers, but this one was quite good.
