3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 BelgianBeerGal (2218) - Dayton Area, USA - SEP 20, 2010
75cl corked bottle that’s probably 2.5yrs old or so. Hazy, orange-brown pour with a medium off-white head and a little lacing and some short legs. Pretty big, sweet, Belgian aroma and maybe a little spice in the background. Flavour is a little flat but at the finish there is a vegetable note that is hard to place/describe...I’m not a fan of it anyway. Alcohol is noticeable but nothing major. I think this was a bit of a miss. Got another bottle I’ll try and re-rate as appropriate.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 ThirstyMedic (4) - Carlsbad, California, USA - APR 24, 2012 does not count
I’m not the biggest fan of the lighter belgians so I’m sure that affected my rating... that being said, it has wonderful carbonation and a sweet bread character that makes it pretty drinkable. It was nice to have a little citrusy hop flavor in the undertones as well. I did not expect that from the style. Good beer but just not really my cup of tea

Bottle... Poured dark golden with a white-ish head. Bread-like character with loads of yeast spice, esters, and even a hint of tartness. Burnt, toasted caramel-like malts to balance the heavy dose of yeast.
4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 BeerNeedy (111) - Anchorage, Alaska, USA - JAN 14, 2012
Poured from the bottle, this hazy yellowish ale had a remarkable aroma easily decernible from a distance. A full bodied flavor followed that was the perfect after dinner libation that finished strong but at the same time mellowly.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Chuckaduck (266) - California, USA - JAN 14, 2012

Bottle brought back from KC- pours cloudy, brownish amber, decent head. bottle aged for a year but an original batch so 4 years old. Distinct De Proef yeast, bread, caramel malts, subtle spice, cream soda on the nose. rich bread, honey sweetness, caramel, molasses, a bit of apricot, apple cider, cedar. wow, really complex and nuanced. medium finish and mouthfeel. Love De Proef distinctiveness.
