COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A strong blonde ale of about 8% alc. by volume that claims vaguely to be an “abbey” beer, Guldenberg bears no resemblance whatsoever to any Tripel you may have sampled, except in color perhaps. It is very hoppy and malty (though not quite as assertive as De Ranke’s XX Bitter). Made in small batches only on the weekends, they are quickly gaining a reputation as the best specialty beers of Belgium.
Previously 8.5% abv.

Orange color with an off-white head and good retention. Aroma was fruity and spicy. The taste was slightly sour with a hoppy taste that takes over on the back end.

Hammerbier. Extrem tripellastig, kräftig gehopft und wahrhaft fett. Hab die 8,5% Fassung vernascht. Im CAFE DU SPUYT in Amsterdam. Vom Hahn.

UPDATED: AUG 13, 2016 Tap at Korinbo Jibiruba in Kanazawa. Nose of yeast, honey, and sharp stone fruit. Light hazy gold color with a creamy white head. Yeast, pale malt, light caramel, a cherry-like sweetness in late mid palate, and a pleasant rich balanced finish. Medium-heavy body. Very rich but balanced. Good, but not the best from De Ranke.

Tämä alkosta ostettu pullo näyttää olevan vahvuudeltaan 8%, eikä 8,5%, kuten OO kertoo. Samea, vaalean kullankeltainen olut vaahtoaa reilusti pienikuplaista valkoista vaahtoa.

A little too bitter for me for a belgian strong. Still good but not great in my opinion. Moeder Brussels. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Cloudy, golden, Thin white head. This bottle of Guldenberg is carbonated and seems to be a little thicker to drink. Smooth with a little bit of bubbles. Overall Very nice!

Bottle at home. Slight hazy orange golden with fizzy off white head that leaves a thin film. Peach, ripe apricots, lots of sweet malts, grapes, quite grassy, light spicy yeast. Over medium sweet and long lingering medium bitter finish. Over medium bodied with fizzy carbonation. Nice beer.

33cl bottle from private import. Aroma: that typical Belgian yeast of apples, banana, light citrus, spices and cereals. App: hazy golden, huge white head never leaving my glass, great lacing. Taste and palate: medium to full body, nice fluffy texture, light sweetness, light dry and clean bitter finish. Overall: had to buy this beer to be able to buy 3F Oude Kriek. So what a great surprise for me! Really like it. It’s that kind of beer that you think you’ll be stuck with and that surprises you nicely. Really a typical Belgian Strong Ale. Could drink this beer anytime, paired with a good T-Bone or alone like now. I’m really glad that I have another 5 to drink. Pretty good.

From tap at ’Butcher’s Tears’, shared with a markoijelena. Slightly hazy, golden yellow with a frothy, white head. Sweetish, slightly fruity, a bit floral and a little spicy aroma of caramel, honey, vanilla, peach and some citrus. Sweetish, slightly fruity, a little floral and spicy taste of caramel, honey, vanilla, some peach and a touch of citrus, followed by a short, slightly bitter, a little dry finish. Medium body, slightly creamy and moderately effervescent mouthfeel, average carbonation. Nice!
