COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Kriek de Rank is real Belgian sour ale fermented with cherries and then blended with real lambic. It is unfiltered and unpasterized. The de Rank brewery was founded by two good friends; Nino Bacelle & Guido Devose. To them, brewing is a weekend hobby, not an occupation. For a few hours every week they make small batches of what many consider the best specialty beers. Their beers are robust and flavorful. They use the best Hallertau and brewer’s Gold varieties of hops.

Bottle. Poured a hazy reddish orange color with an average frothy white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate to heavy sour tart fruit aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy sour & sweet flavor with a medium to heavy sweet & sour finish of moderate to long duration. This is a very good sour beer.

Pours a slightly clear purple/maroon with quite a few clear bubbles. Light pink head exudes a full and funky aroma. Flavor is dusty, acidic, sour, tart with a touch of cherry. I loved this beer and will search it out on all trips to Belgium.

LanceUppercut (139) - SWEDEN - MAR 23, 2010
A good sour/fruit-lambic kind of beer. The cuvée was better, but this still is a solid pick. The fruity character comes out pretty well, and the result is a relatively complex and drinkable brew.

Bottle. Pours dark red without any head. Nice genuine cherry taste, but to simple and to much juice and to little beer.

Bottle. Red with a small pink head. Fruity aroma with cherries, funk and some lemon. Dry, sour taste with funk and cherries. Pleasant tart and smooth mouthfeel. Very drinkable.

hirigalzkar (1320) - ENSKEDE, SWEDEN - MAR 20, 2010
Bottle. Pours dark red. No head. Simple sour cherry aroma with no real character. I could drink this all night, I love the acidity of it, but this is not the most complex kriek I’ve had. A little too one dimensional... but I like it.
