COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Kriek de Rank is real Belgian sour ale fermented with cherries and then blended with real lambic. It is unfiltered and unpasterized. The de Rank brewery was founded by two good friends; Nino Bacelle & Guido Devose. To them, brewing is a weekend hobby, not an occupation. For a few hours every week they make small batches of what many consider the best specialty beers. Their beers are robust and flavorful. They use the best Hallertau and brewer’s Gold varieties of hops.

From tap at Moeder Lambic Fontainas, Brussels. Aroma is funky, lots of tart cherries, hint of sweet cherries. Flavour is nicely medium sour, body is medium. Great balance and complexity, truly a delicious Sour Ale!

Nice kriek! Feels quite acidic, yet very well balanced with light sweetness and cherry notes, quite oaky dry. Decent malty background makes this beer very crisp, letting cherries to sine.

75cl bottle. Deep burgundy red, with a medium-tall light red head that gives way to a very thin lacing. Smells of lambic funk, macerated cherries, vinegar, cider. Tastes sour and a funky, mouldy bitter, with notes of sour cherries, sherry and a touch of vinegar. Light bodied and medium carbonation. A very interesting lambic, not as dry or as sour as the ones from Cantillon, and maybe a bit more complex.

A web-release at Systembolaget, Sweden January 28, 2016. Only 336 bottles was released in Sweden and I got two of them :)

Brouwerij De Ranke is one of my favorite brewery and I’m sure this beer will be great one!

I pours hazy, ruby-red with almost no head and no lacing on the tulip sniffer.

Nose: Red fruit, tart cherries, funk, vinegar, oak, vanilla and some Belgian yeast.
Taste: Sour and sweet. cherries , raspberries, oak, minerals and cranberry.
Mouthfeel: Fresh and crisp! Light carbonation. Medium body. Dry ending.

A very drinkable Kriek!

Red body, no head. Arom of sour cherries, yeast, wood, musty, funky. Flavour of wood, then comes sour cherries and lots of musty funkiness. I never tasted something like this. I realy like it, averall quite peticular. The beer is fairly sweet so it’s not mouth pukering but still not an easy drink.

UPDATED: FEB 24, 2016 On tap. Ottima.
