COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Kriek de Rank is real Belgian sour ale fermented with cherries and then blended with real lambic. It is unfiltered and unpasterized. The de Rank brewery was founded by two good friends; Nino Bacelle & Guido Devose. To them, brewing is a weekend hobby, not an occupation. For a few hours every week they make small batches of what many consider the best specialty beers. Their beers are robust and flavorful. They use the best Hallertau and brewer’s Gold varieties of hops.

Cask @ Moeder Lambic, Fontainas. Couleur rubis allant sur le pourpre, col épais rosé. Arôme, effectivement pas mal de cerise avec une note houblonnée fleurie. En bouche, cerise aigre, laissant un léger picotement en bouche. Ressent un profile de tannins de cerise et de noyaux allant presque vers le boisé. Le côté aigre reste modéré en comparaison à d’autres bières du style. On perçoit une pointe d’amertume houblonnée restant assez sèche au fini. Le tout est agréable et rafraichissant.

Bottle generously shared by Sparky! Bright crimson/peach/plum colored body with a small white ring that surrounds the glass. Aroma shows tart acidity, barnyard funk, cherry skin, and some earthiness. Flavor is sharp vinegar, citrus, dark fruit, slight cinnamon, and lemon zest. Medium mouthfeel. So refreshing after a gaggle of BA stouts!

SMÖF 2011. Red beer, small pinkish head. Sour fruity aroma, rubber and some berries. Sour fruity flavor, sourish, cherry, rubber, citrus. Nice fruity finish with sourish notes.

Sample at SMÖF 2011. It poured a hazy dark amber liquid. Sour smell with cherries and a hint of almonds. Similar taste, very berry and sour with cherries. Fresh and nice kriek.

Sampled at SMÖF 2011. Pours red with a small white head. Smells and tastes fruity and sour, very fresh, with a similar finish.

Sample @ SMÖF 2011. Pours clear red amber with a small bubbly pink head. Aroma is sour fruity cherries a bit astringent and tart. Flavor is fresh fruity sour cherries some lemon juice. Veryniceand pleasant. Finishes sour tart and fruity.

Pours a deep sort of magenta, almost no head, but what is there is rose colored. Tart cherry and funk from the belgian yeast, something else also but can’t point it out. Very tart cherry taste, little bit of yeast, sour apples as well as a bit of vinegar. Nice carbonation and leaves your mouth puckered and dry. Well done.

Bottle, very nice red pour, pink head, smell of cherries and yeast, the taste was a little sourness and a very unsweet, overall good
