Kriek de Rank is real Belgian sour ale fermented with cherries and then blended with real lambic. It is unfiltered and unpasterized. The de Rank brewery was founded by two good friends; Nino Bacelle & Guido Devose. To them, brewing is a weekend hobby, not an occupation. For a few hours every week they make small batches of what many consider the best specialty beers. Their beers are robust and flavorful. They use the best Hallertau and brewer’s Gold varieties of hops.

From the bottle. Very nice pinkish red color. Spritzy with big cherry flavor. For the ABV, I thought this was a light tasting kriek. Nice.

750ml courtest of the sloval sniper. Nice fruity, funky aroma, the kriek is quite subtle, but the funky, barnyard aromas are very present. The carb is quite active, and the mouth feel is very lively. There is what seems to be a strong mineral finish mixed in with the funk. The tartness dies out quickly, and the fruit is nowhere to be found in the end. Good, but not great.

3 ounce sample at The Davis Beer Shoppe. The aroma is rather faint with light sweet cherry and a great deal of band-aid. Weird. Moderately hazy reddish body with a very quickly dissipating white head. Starts floral and pretty gnarly before some cherry and more floral perfume comes through. Light tart sourness late. Some band-aid lingers, too.

Taster at DBS. Bright red cherry color. Got a little, but of the Belgian hop funk, but it was decent on that palate. The cot threw me off a little. I think in was expecting something a little sweeter. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle pour at DBS. Aroma and flavor has Belgian yeast with slightly bitter hops and some lambicy notes. This could be better. I'm not feeling the blend. Pretty good beer.

Bottle bought @ bierkompass.de. Pours hazy brownish red with a small fizzy pinkish offwhite head that quickly dissipates without leaving much trace on the glass. Smell is fruity and funky with sour cherries, unflavored yoghurt, crackers, hay, barnyard, lemon juice, cherry jam, leather, grape skins and dry soul. Taste is sour, tart and slightly funky with crackers, lemon juice, sour milk, cherry juice, sour cherries, hay, dry soil, cherry har candy and sour cherry pits. Mouthfeel is crisp, dry, tart and light to medium bodied. Finish is sour and slightly funky with crackers, lemon juice, sour milk, grape juice, sour cherries, dry soil and hay. Delicious kriek beer! Served it with bourbon county stout chocolate mud cake which was a perfect match!

Big bottle. Pours pink, not much head. Nose is sour cherry, wood, sweaty old hops, lemony sourness. Flavour is a straightforward sourness with nice amount of cherry and wood in the background, medium sour finish. Quite dry. Very nice. The finished product is less complex than expected considering the components.

Tap på Moeder Lambic. Intensiv körsbär. Påminner om Intense Red. Snudd på syntetiska körsbär, men ändå inte. Det är de som gör den så bra. Klar och rubinröd
