COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Kriek de Rank is real Belgian sour ale fermented with cherries and then blended with real lambic. It is unfiltered and unpasterized. The de Rank brewery was founded by two good friends; Nino Bacelle & Guido Devose. To them, brewing is a weekend hobby, not an occupation. For a few hours every week they make small batches of what many consider the best specialty beers. Their beers are robust and flavorful. They use the best Hallertau and brewer’s Gold varieties of hops.

Fabuleusement bonne.

Bright red/purple colour. Smells sour, cellar, yeasty. Tastes not that sour, not that fruity. Mouthfeel is quite dry, small co2 bubbles.

750 ml bottle @ Gastropub Tuulensuu, Tampere.
Pours a hazy red colour with a small white head which disappears quickly. Aroma of strong sour cherries, green apples and yeast. Flavour of sour burning cherries, sweet strawberries, lemon and wood. Long, warming, sour finish. Well done.

Bottle from Beers of Europe. A hot pink beer with a lacy light pink head. Great aroma of cherry, almond and lemon. Flavours of cherry and almond again with some balsamic vinegar and a great long tart finish. Little foamy mouth-feel and a cheek puckeringly tart finish.

Body, without head, like a rose wine. Subtle, with very natural cherry flavours in the nose. Taste continues the cherry flavours and adds yeast and wood flavours. Slightly pétillant in the aftertaste. Somewhat reminiscent of dry red wine, like nero d’avola.

Countbeer (1686) - Best of Eindhoven ohne Brauhaus, NETHERLANDS - AUG 15, 2011
Bottle: Light cloudy pink reddish beer with no head. Smell wood, yeast, cherries, cellar yeast, spices and sweets. Taste is a good mix of yeast, cherries, wood, some malts, medium sour, some old dried hops and a hint of sweets like caramel. Dirt bitter but good balanced fruity yeasty (bitter) aftertaste. Low carbo, tingly light sharp mouthfeel, medium body and a light watery/creamy texture.
