COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Kriek de Rank is real Belgian sour ale fermented with cherries and then blended with real lambic. It is unfiltered and unpasterized. The de Rank brewery was founded by two good friends; Nino Bacelle & Guido Devose. To them, brewing is a weekend hobby, not an occupation. For a few hours every week they make small batches of what many consider the best specialty beers. Their beers are robust and flavorful. They use the best Hallertau and brewer’s Gold varieties of hops.

Bottle @ Rudolf’s ’Sourfest’. Murky tomato juice like body with a quick massive head that erupts out of the bottle then fades away to very little. Musty, light barnyard funk in the aroma, not a lot of fruit presence. Sourness is relatively restrained though still quite present, very light cherries. A decent, relatively accessible Kriek. 7/3/7/3/15 <P>"Thumbs up. Heey-ey!" - IPfreely.

12/29/04. 750 ml. Bright cherry red with small white head. Sharp sour aroma with a hint of cherry. Pleasant cherry sour somewhat tart but not near as tart as Cantillon

Hazy reddish of color with a reddish head. An aroma of horse, sour berries and sour toes, no sweets. A flavor of fruits and fruitstones, notes of sweets, nice sour - wellbalanced.

UPDATED: AUG 23, 2007 Pinkish haze, silky head, acetic nose. Not a cherrydrop in sight. The-right-side-of-vinegar lambic sharpness. Sherbety acid, very distant fruit. Teaspoons of soil. Certainly a lick of barrel. Could use an infusion of... cherryness. Authentic? No doubt about it. But I needed a Gaviscon chaser just to get through this one. Not a complex beer.

750 ml bottle from Holiday Wine Cellar. Cloudy red with a fizzy pinkish head. Sour fruit and oak aroma. Initially sour cherry taste with an intense tartness quickly following and finishing with a lingering mild sourness and oak taste.

From a 750mL Bottle. Hazy ruddy pour with a healthy layer of fizzy pink head. Aromas of tart cherry skins, pomegranate seeds, and herbal raspberry leaves float from the glass. The cherry nose is satisfactorily natural and tart, but is relatively clean and straight forward. Light to medium bodied, crisply carbonated mouthfeel. Flavors are sweet and fruity; loads of cherries without much acidity or woody dryness. A squeeze of lemon adds a touch of tartness and contributes to the fresh fruity qualities of the beer. A fresh herbal, leafy quality adds some complexity in the places I find myself missing the oak or acidic funk.

Semplicemente stupenda.
