COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Kriek de Rank is real Belgian sour ale fermented with cherries and then blended with real lambic. It is unfiltered and unpasterized. The de Rank brewery was founded by two good friends; Nino Bacelle & Guido Devose. To them, brewing is a weekend hobby, not an occupation. For a few hours every week they make small batches of what many consider the best specialty beers. Their beers are robust and flavorful. They use the best Hallertau and brewer’s Gold varieties of hops.

Clear red color, small slight pinkish head. Yeasty, artificial, chemical and a little musty smell. Taste light sour, not much more, but pretty nice. Carbo and body nice as well.

750ml capped and paper covered green bottle. It pours a great color, clear red with a small white head. The smell is great for a kriek. It is funky and sour but the cherries can easily be distinguished. The flavor is a bit weak on the cherry flavor but it is good nonetheless. It isn’t a funk bomb but rather a tart and sour mouth puckerer. Not a bad one, pretty tasty.

Bottle (from the november 2005 RB-tasting at Dixens place - notes have been damaged by flooding of my basement, but this was such an insane tasting for me as I was new to such massive tastings, so I gave up on the detailed notes quite early). Acidic, cherries. All that was readable...

Note: 8/10

UPDATED: JAN 23, 2012 (750ml) Yes this is beautiful stuff ,wow I felt inundated with all that is good and great about funky fruit beers .
I knew , I just knew psychically when looking at the bottle this would be fucking expressive. Acidicty is harsh and aggressive and that’s probing you, A very deep tart cherry stones juicy full on induction, , , bretty must ,only a mild sweetness, some ’flanders brune’ like blood texture present , . A brilliantly brutal Kriek.!!!
