COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Kriek de Rank is real Belgian sour ale fermented with cherries and then blended with real lambic. It is unfiltered and unpasterized. The de Rank brewery was founded by two good friends; Nino Bacelle & Guido Devose. To them, brewing is a weekend hobby, not an occupation. For a few hours every week they make small batches of what many consider the best specialty beers. Their beers are robust and flavorful. They use the best Hallertau and brewer’s Gold varieties of hops.

A decent cherry sour beer with lambic added. Has that bitter aftertaste that I'm not crazy about. Pours a deep red with very little head. Doesn't have the sweetness you'd expect from something blended with lambic ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Poured from a 750 ml bottle. There are notes of cherry, citrus, a musty/dusty quality, grain, a noticeable tannic character, huskiness, firm acidity. This beer poured a brilliant red, truely one of the best looking Krieks I have had.

Bottle, brought and shared by Jeff. Lovely pink hue with a pink-tinged crown. Aroma is sour and lightly herbal. Flavours of sour cherries, with woody and herbal nuances, and a light yoghurty acidity. Nice balance here, although a bit more cherry character and perhaps a bit of spiciness would have been welcome. Still, very enjoyable.

OK, the tartness and sweet fruit didn’t really blend together.

750 ml bottle bought from Etre Gourmet. Pours a wonderful purple color with a small white head. A woody and sour nose. The flavor is big tart cherries, some light sawdust, cherry skins. Good. Not too deep, but solid.
