COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Kriek de Rank is real Belgian sour ale fermented with cherries and then blended with real lambic. It is unfiltered and unpasterized. The de Rank brewery was founded by two good friends; Nino Bacelle & Guido Devose. To them, brewing is a weekend hobby, not an occupation. For a few hours every week they make small batches of what many consider the best specialty beers. Their beers are robust and flavorful. They use the best Hallertau and brewer’s Gold varieties of hops.

Bottle. Best before 04 2013. Poured into a tulip glass an opaque reddish color with a slight collared pinkish head. The aroma has a nice semi-sweet cherry along with some funk. The taste is nice and sour with a nice sweet cherry balance. Light mouthfeel with a good amount of carbonation. Not extremely spur but sour enough to garner a slight pucker.

Marked best before 2013. Bottle. Pours a red color with a large pink foamy head. Nose is burnt cherrie pie, with a little bit of plastic. Taste is sweet cherrie sauce, funk, and oak. Tart mouthfeel and last finish. Delicious.

750 ml bottle shared by STLWill at Hair of the Dog in St. Louis- thanks again, Will! Pours a cloudy ruby pink color with a small pink tinted head that vanishes quickly. Aroma of lactic acid, oaky funk, fresh tart cherries, musty dryness, and lemon juice. The flavor follows along those lines closely, too, along with notes of grape skins and oak. Medium-bodied, with a tart mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. Great beer.

aroma- tart cherry, wild yeast, hints of strawberry and banana. pours ruby red with some resilient head and heavy lacing. taste very tart cherry. It starts light and sweet at the tip of the tongue, then becomes very tart and finishes sugary sweet with lingering sour fruitiness. The cherry and lambic mixes nicely into a well balanced, refreshing, and interesting beer.

Pours a slightly brightened pink cherry color with a white head that is ever so slightly tinted pink. Smell is dominated by cherries, but isn’t quite as pungent as offerings from Cantillon and Drie Fonteinen. Mild bit of funk, but nothing extraordinary at this point. Taste is again, loads of cherries, and is well integrated with the sourness and hints of earth. Mouthfeel is slightly dry, but certainly not overly so. Good sourness level with just a bit of acetic character. Drinkability is quite smooth. If this were easier to come by around here, it just might become a staple. WHAT A GREAT BEER. perfect balance between tart, moderate to heavy lactic sourness, sweet leathery funk, and cherries. super clean leathery funk. not terribly complex, but super well crafted. ultra clean. really diggin the clean cowhid leather and basement funk. berries give great balance to the sharp lactic sourness. nice and dry. would drink all the live long day. awesome beer.
