COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Kriek de Rank is real Belgian sour ale fermented with cherries and then blended with real lambic. It is unfiltered and unpasterized. The de Rank brewery was founded by two good friends; Nino Bacelle & Guido Devose. To them, brewing is a weekend hobby, not an occupation. For a few hours every week they make small batches of what many consider the best specialty beers. Their beers are robust and flavorful. They use the best Hallertau and brewer’s Gold varieties of hops.

Thanks to Exiled for sharing this bottle. Bottled April 2008. The beer pours a reddish-amber color with a white head. The aroma is unmistakably kriek, with notes of tart cherries and some oak. The flavor is tart cherries, oak, vanilla and some funk. The beer is very dry, very tart and very drinkable. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

Bottle from Whole Foods, poured into tumbler. Poured a hazy red bordering on pink with an effervescent pink head. Aroma is sour with funk, cherries, and a tiny bit of citrus. Flavor is similar, but with a mitigating sweetness that keeps the sourness from becoming too much to handle.

(Bottle, 0.75 l, from Systembolaget - thanks mto) Poured dirty red coloured and hazy. Head was pink and medium sized. Aroma contained sourness and cherry stones. Palate was medium bodied and bit dry with medium carbonation. Flavours were sourness, tartness, cherries, cherry stones, hint of malts and low bitterness. Aftertaste contained sourness and cherries.

Deep red, with a hint of cloudy. Smell is sour cherry. Taste is as well. Sour, with a light hint of sweetness at the very end. I think I want more.

(750ml bottle best by 04-2013) opaque very bright red, long lasting white head. Nose of funky tart cherries, very subtle char, very tart tangerine, amazing. Taste of very tart cherries, very light charred barrel, funky, delicious. An awesome kriek. Perfect carbonation, long lasting linger of tart cherry and wet wood.

Cherry duh. Deliciously carbonated. Sour. I like that it’s in a paper bag. It makes this hip beer Gangsta-approved.

75cl bottle at home vintage 2008. Really nice Ruby colour. Was not too sure what to expect flavor wise but its basically a cherry lambic. Aroma is sour cherry and smoke. Flavor is funky sour cherries and smoke. Quite similar to a cantillon in flavor. Very nice.
