COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Kriek de Rank is real Belgian sour ale fermented with cherries and then blended with real lambic. It is unfiltered and unpasterized. The de Rank brewery was founded by two good friends; Nino Bacelle & Guido Devose. To them, brewing is a weekend hobby, not an occupation. For a few hours every week they make small batches of what many consider the best specialty beers. Their beers are robust and flavorful. They use the best Hallertau and brewer’s Gold varieties of hops.

75cl bottle at home vintage 2008. Really nice Ruby colour. Was not too sure what to expect flavor wise but its basically a cherry lambic. Aroma is sour cherry and smoke. Flavor is funky sour cherries and smoke. Quite similar to a cantillon in flavor. Very nice.

@ ZBF ’12 Poured pink/red with a pink quickly fading head. Aromas of acid cherries. The taste as well was sweet but loads of acid. The cherry were clearly present. Quickly fading taste, light sour but not disturbing.

UPDATED: JUN 11, 2008 smaakvol kriekenbier met een zeer fruitige azijnzuresmaak en een lichte toets van het Gerardinlambic en de noorderkrieken uit Polen.

Incredible aroma that is the perfect blend of funky, mysterious barnyard microbes and sour cherry juice. Good sour, acidic base to the flavor. That first sip is a real palatte grabber! By the third sip, I can really taste the cherries and am really starting to like this beer. By the end of the first glass, I'm in love!

EXTREME....... Try it only if know something about The Lambic family, otherwise get back home! Everyone trying this beer will find something different, its a subjective and REALLY extreme beer. It feels like fire in your stomac.

Poured a ruby red with a slight haze. The aroma is obviously sour cherries and a wee bit of sulfer. The taste is whole sour pie cherries right off the tree, with a little of the oaky wood taste.

I’ve had this many times and love it, but recently had a bottle aged exactly 5 years, and it was definitely worth the wait. The cherries were just as prevalent but dryer, the body had thinned a bit and a deep sour woodiness emerged that put it on par with the best batches of La Folie. Unmatched!

Bottled at a beer festival somewhere? A red colour with a pinkish head. A great balance sweet/sour balance. A really nice Kriek. If you find the true Lambics too sour & the Lindemans too sweet, this my friends is your answer.
