Kriek de Rank is real Belgian sour ale fermented with cherries and then blended with real lambic. It is unfiltered and unpasterized. The de Rank brewery was founded by two good friends; Nino Bacelle & Guido Devose. To them, brewing is a weekend hobby, not an occupation. For a few hours every week they make small batches of what many consider the best specialty beers. Their beers are robust and flavorful. They use the best Hallertau and brewer’s Gold varieties of hops.

Balanserad.

DWF; Bottle 75 cl. From Vinmonopelet. Pours moderate, hazy murky red with a bobble frothy, some lacing reddish head. Nose is moderate to heavy, sour, mold, horse blanket, citric, red berries, yeast, light spice and wood. Taste is medium sweet and heavy citric with a lasting red berries finish. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. Special..

Bottiglia 75. Ottima

Delectable. Pours a bright ruby red with a pinkish white head. The nose is bright and fruity with tons of cherry and acetic notes that culminate in a floral, funky nose. A bit sweet up front but it doesnt verge on syrupy with a light malt base, crisp and refreshing profile. Bitterness is moderate with ligth floral hop notes. Funky and estery with a light tart sour note. Very well done.

Bottle. Pours a blood red, initial bubbly cap that disappears. Aroma of cherry pit, cherry skin, and faint jam, good funky yeast backbone. Taste is sweet and tart. Palate is very sticky, medium-high effervescent, and lasting medium-dry finish. Lovely.

12-SEP-2015, draft @Chez Moeder Lambic Fontainas, with Ulkløbben. Red and hazy with a pink, lasting head. Cherry, sour but not a lot. Balanced by the fruit sweetness. By far the most balanced Kriek I have had. This is really fantastic. I want to try this from bottle to see if that is the same.
