COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Kriek de Rank is real Belgian sour ale fermented with cherries and then blended with real lambic. It is unfiltered and unpasterized. The de Rank brewery was founded by two good friends; Nino Bacelle & Guido Devose. To them, brewing is a weekend hobby, not an occupation. For a few hours every week they make small batches of what many consider the best specialty beers. Their beers are robust and flavorful. They use the best Hallertau and brewer’s Gold varieties of hops.

In Ghent-Belgium, 0,75 bottle at Backdoor pub with markoijelena. Vivid and cloudy reddish pink, minimal pinkish head which lowers super fast. Nose: subtle cellar notes, jasmine flowers. Mouth: not that complex but fairly good. Mild red fruits, medium tart overall palate, decent. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Ruby color with little foam. There is nearly no smell (I have a very limited sense of smell). The cherry taste is decent but present and moderately sour. The aftertaste is a bit regular. Still what criticism could one have, when you have a kriek in front of you.

75cl bottle shared. Pours redish with a film och pink head. Aromas of ripe and unripe cherries, tart, green apples. Flavour is sour with notes of red fruits, cherries and lemons. Not getting much funkiness at all which is a bit of a dissapointment. Great sour nontheless.

On tap at Moeder Lambic. Red color with small pink head. Tart fruitiness, intense sour cherries. Taste is intensely fruity and sour, stone fruits, acidity, but perfectly balanced. Just the right amount of carbonation. A superb Kriek!

750mL paper wrapped Champagne bottle from Beer Cartel. EXP 08/02/19 Lovely hazy blood red body, and small pink-tinged ring of head. Nose is complex; cherry flesh & stone, touch of unripe strawberry, quite vinous, Pinot Noir/rosé-like. There’s plenty of funk too; lees, minerals, aged hard cheese, white pepper & hay. Fine, effervescent carbonation, dry with long acidity, body is lean but fuller than most Lambics. Vinous red fruits continue on the palate - not just cherry, strawberry & cranberry character in there too, with some gamey, mulchy, Pinot-like funky undertones. Cheesy notes continue with a good whack of bitter & sour grapefruit rind lingering with a good dose of acetic acid bite on a long finish. Wonderful stuff. Fruit plays a supporting role to a seriously funky, complex base beer.

On tap during Brussels vacation. Red with a pinkish head. Aroma of sour cherries, bitter almond extract and some chemical cherry notes. Taste is very nicely balanced, good cherry notes with a nice acidity. Very pleasant taste
