Bottle: Unfiltered.
Ingredients: Water; Barley malt; Hops; Candi-sugar; Yeast.
The heaviest ale on our menu with a very rich taste, coming from the six different kinds of malt we use. These malts also give it that rich, dark, nearly black colour. The royal doses of Challenger and Saaz hops bring the typical balance between sweet and bitter.

TURDFERGUSON (3930) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - NOV 25, 2010
Bottle from the Spirit Haus in Amherst, Mass. Still has a great selection and everything is stocked in the same place it was when I left 4 years ago. Love this store. The dark ale from De Ranke pours a dark brown amber with a sudsy tan head. Nose of roasted malt, banana, light hops, light brown sugar. Flavor is layered malty balance, light hops notes. Very solid BSA.

20101124 11.2 oz bottle from State Line. Had no idea what this was when I bought it, and no idea what to expect when I opened it other than that it was strong and dark. Well, it is that. Light cocoa brown color, clouded, with small, fading beige head. Aroma is richly fruity with notes of prune, fig, sassafras, and isopropyl alcohol. Boozy as hell, but only really on the nose, while the flavor is simply medium sweet, mildly salty, a touch of cooling mint, and a surprising but quite nice finishing hop bite. Nice choice and execution of bittering hops on this one as it really helps keep perspective across the mid palate, taming any potential sweetness, and then combines nicely with ample carbonation and a mild alcohol spice for a relative brisk finish for such a strong beer. Sorry I didn’t buy the big bottle.

LoFi (1550) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - NOV 24, 2010
Bottle. Hazy reddish brown with a medium-sized beige head. Aroma: dried fruit, brown sugar, malt, raisins. Taste: malty, apples, brown sugar, perhaps some julmust, some fruit, some port, with an earthy, herbal bitterness. Quite a full mouthfeel. Nice enough, but a bit too sweet.

Bottled. Dark brown colour with cottony pale brown head. Aroma is rich - we have spicy phenols, chocolate, refined sugar and alcohol. Mouthfeel is very light and super smooth. First comes chocolate, then a peppery alcohol tone that disturbs the overall impression. Yes, the alcohol becomes edgy after. The beer started pretty neat in aroma, but ended up overattenuated, hence the boozy feeling in the end, that not even this yeast could cover.

Bottle (33 cl) from Systembolaget. Dark hazy chestnut with medium beige head. Nutty and toasted aroma with some dark chocolate, and herbal hops. Medium bodied, moussy carbonation. Dry with soft bitterness. Would have preferred it slightly sweeter.

[3321-20100809] Tap. Fruity perfume malt aroma has light floral leaf notes and fruity booze. Slightly hazy, dark red orange body with a long-lasting creamy light mocha head and thick lattice lacing. Nutty grains flavour has a light boozily toasted malt and lingering sweet malt grains. Medium-full body. Nice to try.
