The heaviest ale on our menu with a very rich taste, coming from the six different kinds of malt we use. These malts also give it that rich, dark, nearly black colour. The royal doses of Challenger and Saaz hops bring the typical balance between sweet and bitter.

On tap at Vine street brewpub. Clear nutty very dark amber under a beige head. Aroma of mild chocolate and yeasty earthy raisin. Taste has a little bit if a booze kick, but that’s ok. More raisins on the flavor, with a chewy dark wheat like malt with some toffee and toast. Body is light enough to help hide that bigger ABV. On the sweeter side of balanced without being too heavy. Not bad!

Red brown with a large beigewhite head, some lacing. Aroma of caramel, dried fruits, spices, brown sugar, and alcohol. Flavour of caramelized sugar, phenolic spicy notes and dried fruits/raisins. Also some earthy, grassy notes with a bitter finish. Rather dry. Fullbodied with average to lively carbonation. Rather nice.

Fresh and fruity hop aroma with slightly sweet malt ground tones similar to brown sugar. The taste is a bit pungent with elements of especially yeast, fruit, hops and alcohol. The alcohol is particularly noticeable in the rather bitter aftertaste. I think the beer lacks something that smooths out the now quite sharp flavors.

Draught at Moeder Lambic Fontainas, Brussels. Pours a deep hazy orange-amber, almost brown, with an average size mostly-lasting creamy off-white head. Nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of yeast, dark malt and dark fruit. Flavour is yeasty and malty, lightly roasty and with chocolate, dark fruit and very light hops in the finish. Medium bodied, creamy mouthfeel. Quite good.

You need to not being affraid to drink a dark beer who’s not sweet. Something pretty rare in Belgium. Well it is perfectly balanced. Malt are strongly present. small taste of coffee. Hops giving floral taste and bitterness. In this case, it’s bring the drinkability again. I wish I could drink that one on tap once in my life.

Poured almost black with creamy off-white head. Aromas of roasted nuts and chocolate. Tastes balanced with sweet and bitter. Good amount of carbonation and a body to match. A very nice Belgian ale a little different than most.
