The heaviest ale on our menu with a very rich taste, coming from the six different kinds of malt we use. These malts also give it that rich, dark, nearly black colour. The royal doses of Challenger and Saaz hops bring the typical balance between sweet and bitter.

Bottle, 75cl corked. A minimal sized off-white head sits on top of an unclear, brown body. Sweetish caramel nose with dried fruits, some alcohol and a touch of spices and hops. Sweetness, caramel and dried fruits in the finish. Full-bodied and nicely carbonated mouthfeel. Pleasant finish with European hop flavor and bitterness. Wouldn’t mind having more of this one. 110826

Pours a dark caramel amber with a thick, airy light caramel froth top. The nose fills with dark fruits, prune and fig, followed by lightly roasted chocolate and with a distinct tartness throughout. Luscious caramel body, deep candi caramel notes. Ripe prune, dry roasty and bitter finish finish with a splinter of sourness for a unique complexity.

Dark brown beer with chocolate and roasty flavors. In taste also some dark berries. Really special beer that matches awesome with dark chocolate desserts.

UPDATED: FEB 22, 2012 Bottle. Quickly diminishing airy beige head. Cloudy dark brown colour. Aroma of coffee, chocolate, roasty, faint hints of the above-mentioned hops (challenger, saaz). More on the coffee side. Very thick, full mouthfeel, hides the alcohol well, but goes down slower. Taste is balanced medium sweet, medium bitter. The finish is as balanced as the initial taste is, equal parts sweet and bitter. This is very good stuff.

Typical belgian yeast aroma with heavy caramel notes and a hint of roasted malt Color is just black with an off-white head Complex caramel taste, quite sweet, surprisingly little roastiness for the color Overall a very nice beer, with a good balance.
