COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle: Unfiltered.
Ingredients: Water; Barley malt; Hops; Candi-sugar; Yeast.
The heaviest ale on our menu with a very rich taste, coming from the six different kinds of malt we use. These malts also give it that rich, dark, nearly black colour. The royal doses of Challenger and Saaz hops bring the typical balance between sweet and bitter.

A: The beer pours a dark brown color with a fluffy khaki head. S: A nice spicy phenol character to the nose with a bit of roasted malts. Some hints of dark fruits (mostly raisin) and banana. Caramel and toffee malts with a nice yeasty bite on the finish. T: The spicy, pepper flavor is present up front along with a nice sweetness of toffee and bread. There is a subtle tartness of lemon zest and green apples. A touch of bitterness on the finish along with a lot of yeast. M: Medium in body with a medium carbonation. O: A pretty nice beer. I liked the combination of tartness, yeastiness, and sweetness this beer had.

Bottle. Decent head on rusty dark brown. Thin scent with traces of sourness and very ripe fruit. Surprising big strong flavour. Dark ripe punchy fruit with strong dark finishing spice that runs into a long aftertaste. Candy, peppery dark Saison.

Dark brown in colour, with a quite a fluffy thick head. Aroma has some light roast and coffee with spice and dried fruits as well. Medium bodied mouthfeel with a definite Belgian twang.

Dark, rusty brown with poofy white head. Taste and aroma are like a tootsie roll, and very well chorded with no flavor gaps, a light chocolatey sweetness, and a silky mouthfeel. €3.8/25cl

Aroma of roasty caramel. Pours a deep brown with a 1 finger foamy head. Just enough bitterness to offset the initial sweet taste & finishes as a well balanced dance between the 2. One of my faves.

pours red amber with a small beige head. Aromas of dark candi sugar and burnt caramel. Medium body, light chocolate notes, somewhat sweet in the end with a bit of cocoa backing the finale. Ok beer. Not the best from De Ranke.

0.75 l bottle. Dark brown color. Coffeish roasty aroma with restrained fruity and raisiny notes. The flavor is balances between coffeish and chocolatey roast and fruity-spicy yeast character. There are also nice background notes of raisins and figs. Medium body. Dangerously drinkable, alcohol well hidden. Combines well roasted malts and Belgian yeast, which is difficult to do.

Io adoro questo birrificio, e recentemente in compagnia ci siamo seccati una bottiglia da 75 cl presa in loco con un bel pezzo di cioccolato fondente...
