COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle: Unfiltered.
Ingredients: Water; Barley malt; Hops; Candi-sugar; Yeast.
The heaviest ale on our menu with a very rich taste, coming from the six different kinds of malt we use. These malts also give it that rich, dark, nearly black colour. The royal doses of Challenger and Saaz hops bring the typical balance between sweet and bitter.

Aroma of roasty caramel. Pours a deep brown with a 1 finger foamy head. Just enough bitterness to offset the initial sweet taste & finishes as a well balanced dance between the 2. One of my faves.

Aroma is toffee, caramel, plum, raisins and candy sugar. Taste is deep rich malts with toffee, plums, Belgian candy sugar and clove. Light floral hints with a touch of fig. Big beer with a very full flavor that finishes very smoothly. Appearance is a clear dark amber with a thin pearl head that retains fairly well.

Aroma:
Medium aroma of malts, caramel, Belgian yeast, dark fruit, liquorice and spices.

Appearance:
Turbid/opaque ruby/brown beer with a medium beige head.

Taste/Palate:
Medium/heavy sweet with malts, caramel, Belgian yeast, dark fruit, liquorice and spices.

Overall:
This beer is intense, complex and balanced. Dark Belgian ales are always so amazing.

Appearance: opaque brown with clear margins and a short medium dense light beige head diminishing gradually to a thin skim, no lacing. (3/5) Aroma: dark dried fruit, red berries, caramelized sugar, cocoa and roasty malts, floral. (8/10) Taste: moderate sweet, moderate bitter, light tart. (7/10) Medium-full body, moderate carbonation, off-dry slightly sticky and warming finish. (4/5) Decent sipper. Not as well executed as their lighter (paler) beers, in my opinion, but a solid BDSA. I particularly like that it has less sweetness than might be expected, given the malty candi sugar aromas. There’s definitely malt flavour there, but sufficiently attenuated that there’s not a lot of residual sweetness. This comes through in the finish as well, which is off-dry despite being slightly sticky (but by no means cloying). (15/20)
