bottle. dark chestnut brown, small head, little retention. nose is brown sugar, stale numeg, toast and metallic walnuts. metallic flavor is there right in the approach, it’s stale crackers, old pennies and aluminum foil... something isn’t right. mild toast and nut oil flavor, a little green/vegetal hops, also adding to the oily character. medium to thin body, oily texture, loose carbonation. yeast seems stale. disappointing.

En strong ale der mangler nogt men har noget andet. Mangler fylde men har nogen bitterhed bare lidt tynd af en strong ale.

Nose is lactose, coffee, light treacle, light smoke, figs and sweet dark fruit. Taste is very sweet, oak, cola, cherry leading to leather smoke and a very sweet dark fruits/xmas cake finish. The mouthfeel is too carbonated. An interesting beer but ultimately too sweet.

3.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
33cl bottle. Dark brown and hazy. Medium large head.
NOSE : fresh cheese and yeast aromas. Tart and black chocolate. Toffee. Wet stone. Honey.
SIP : medium body with medium carbonation. Oily texture. Sweet rich malt start. It gets burned and yeasty. Fruity flavors are there in the background ; mostly dried figs and raisins. Closing the finish the malt aromas are more and more burned bitter like coffee. Sweetness is cloying. Hops did make a counter balance to malts but they mingle a lot with burned flavors and leaves a spicy, earthy residue in the aftertaste.
OVERALL : very tasty and easy to drink dark beer. Alcohol is extremely well hidden.
