Commercial Description:
A fantastic Christmas beer, but one that defies the universal custom of a stronger, spicier beer for the holiday season. At 7% alcohol by volume, this one is relatively lighter in alcohol than the Guldenberg, and does not pack the hop punch of the XX. It combines some of the best elements of those other two beers – with a fine balance of malt and hops, complex character, a refreshing dryness, and a gorgeous cellar aroma – but is distinguished by its festive copper color. The 1999 Père Noël was a bit of a departure, with a very appealing yeasty tartness that was not readily discernible in earlier years.

Brown bottle, 33 cl, best before November 2012, via Importations Privées Bièropholie, savoured on April 26 2008; eye: copper, hazy, voluminous creamy white head that disappears rather rapidly, good lacing, slight effervescence; nose: yeast, spices, caramel, light fruity, light citrusy; mouth: hops bitterness amplifies the alcohol for a not so pleasant feel but that feeling becomes more pleasant as the beer warms up, caramel is quite present, light fruity, pepper, alcohol, light orange, finale in hops with a good presence of alcohol and pepper, lightly harsh in the throat, lightly sweet, mildly bitter, medium body, slightly oily texture, rather carbonated, mild astringency; overall: disappointing FRANÇAIS Bouteille brune, 33 cl, meilleure avant Novembre 2012, via Importations Privées Bièropholie, savourée le 26 avril 2008; œil : cuivrée, voilée, mousse blanche volumineuse et crémeuse qui disparaît plutôt rapidement, bonne dentelle, très légère effervescence; nez : levure, épices, caramel, léger fruité, léger citrique; bouche : amertume du houblon amplifie l’alcool pour une sensation pas très plaisante mais qui devient moins déplaisante au fur et à mesure que la bière se réchauffe, caramel est pas mal présente, léger fruité, poivre, alcool, léger orange, finale en houblon avec une bonne présence d’alcool et de poivre, légèrement rugueuse en fond de gorge, légèrement sucrée, moyennement amère, corps moyen, texture légèrement huileuse, plutôt carbonatée, astringence moyenne; en résumé : déçu

Hazy amber-orangeish hue, with a fluffy white head, yeasty, fruity ripe apple nose, with a nice floral hop accent, with a hint of spiciness in the aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a yeasty, raw grainy, malty character, with some light fruity notes, a flowery hop citrusy bitterness, leading towards a floral hop bittering finish.

Bottle; from a Christmas in Belgium pack; I think this is my final one. Poured an amber/orange color with a huge off white head. Head lingered with a milky looking top. Aroma of yeast, caramel, vanilla, vegetables and herbs. Pretty good flavor; nice and dry, with a hint of earthy hoppiness. Alot of yeast, some fruit and bread; some apple, fruit and flowers to.

Notes from beer tasting back in December 7th@ Delilah’s. Finally found out the full name of this. Poured amber with a thick beige head. Big malty/fruity aroma. Yeasty, fruity flavor. Light alcohol finish. Hints of cream in the finish. Nice.
