Commercial Description:
A fantastic Christmas beer, but one that defies the universal custom of a stronger, spicier beer for the holiday season. At 7% alcohol by volume, this one is relatively lighter in alcohol than the Guldenberg, and does not pack the hop punch of the XX. It combines some of the best elements of those other two beers – with a fine balance of malt and hops, complex character, a refreshing dryness, and a gorgeous cellar aroma – but is distinguished by its festive copper color. The 1999 Père Noël was a bit of a departure, with a very appealing yeasty tartness that was not readily discernible in earlier years.

Aroma is a light fruity scent with a slight yeast tone. Color is a brownish orange with light carbonation and a very thin but tight head. Taste is cidery and bitter. Starting with a light/medium body it goes down with a crisp bite. Finish comes in bitter with a cider like feel and more bitterness. In the after taste the bitterness turns sharp with a sour taste and a strong alcohol feel. Its all bitterness, there’s no malt or tasty Belgian yeast and the alcohol is way to strong for a beer that has 8%. I am very disappointed with this, maybe I got a bad bottle, it just not a good brew.

Hazy amber-orangeish hue, with a fluffy white head, yeasty, fruity ripe apple nose, with a nice floral hop accent, with a hint of spiciness in the aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a yeasty, raw grainy, malty character, with some light fruity notes, a flowery hop citrusy bitterness, leading towards a floral hop bittering finish.

Bottle; from a Christmas in Belgium pack; I think this is my final one. Poured an amber/orange color with a huge off white head. Head lingered with a milky looking top. Aroma of yeast, caramel, vanilla, vegetables and herbs. Pretty good flavor; nice and dry, with a hint of earthy hoppiness. Alot of yeast, some fruit and bread; some apple, fruit and flowers to.

Notes from beer tasting back in December 7th@ Delilah’s. Finally found out the full name of this. Poured amber with a thick beige head. Big malty/fruity aroma. Yeasty, fruity flavor. Light alcohol finish. Hints of cream in the finish. Nice.
