mjg74 (1995), La Mesa, California, USA Dec 8, 2007 Updated: Oct 17, 2008Bottle from BevMo. Medium golden/orange color. Slightly sweet and spicy aroma. Good amount of peppery hoppiness as well. Mild Belgian ale behind a very dry hoppy flavor. kmeves (1080), Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin, USA Dec 6, 2007 Pours a cloudy orange color with a smallish short lasting white head (some lace). Aroma is yeasty, lots of oranges and lemons and sour. The flavor is musty, yeasty, lots of orange and sour with some bready malts. Chalky mouthfeel, medium bodied, medium/high carbonation. Finishes very dry. BeerBelcher (930), Columbus, Ohio, USA Dec 5, 2007 Pere Noel had some nice champagne-like qualities in its flavor and mouthfeel, and an interesting aroma, but there wasn’t really enough flavor to it to really peak my interest.
This beer poured an opaque orange-pink with lots of fine head. Aroma contained lots of earthiness, isoamyl acetate (banana/circus peanuts), and ethyl butyrate (bubble gum). There was a champagne flavor and mouthfeel, but not much in the way of flavor. Mouthfeel was a bit thin.
I wouldn’t recommend this beer. waolsen (1220), Littleton, Colorado, USA Dec 4, 2007 bottle orange/copper pour with a lot of carbonation leading to a two fingered frothy head. aroma is hoppy, spice, rich malt and apricot. big hoppiness. dry bitterness, mild spice. fairly one dimensional and a little thin. enjoyable but not worth the price. LtJudge (431), Muskego, Wisconsin, USA Dec 3, 2007 Pours a copperish tellow color with a light tan head. Aromas of grainey, fruity yeast. Taste of hops, spices and cinnamon.Nice sweet ending. tupalev (2605), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Dec 1, 2007 Bottle shared with Hogtown Harry and Blankboy, Blankboy’s bottle. Spicy, boozy, yeast, light malt aroma. Dark yellow, decent sized white head. Good taste - yeast, hops, spicy. Easy to drink. Interesting tinny hop taste and linger. Good. blankboy (3157), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Nov 30, 2007 My Bottle (330ml) shared with HogTownHarry & tupalev. Pours a cloudy orange-amber with an average size diminishing off-white head. Aroma’s sugary sweet along with spices and Belgian yeast. Somewhat odd flavour of Belgian yeast, spices, sweet malt, quite a bit of hops in the finish and a weird spice or something that I can’t place. Average bodied. Pretty good, interesting for sure. ubamartian (155), Watertown, Wisconsin, USA Nov 29, 2007 Cloudy golden amber. Mild lacing. Light carbonated head. Dissipates quickly. Spice and hop aroma. Bitter ending. Sweet beginning. A very decent Christmas Brew.
