oteyj (716), Canterbury, New Hampshire, USA Jul 25, 2009 On tap at Ebenezers. Dark brown pour with small off white head. Aroma is roasty with some caramel sweetness and moderate spicyness. Flavor is raisin, dark fruit and some alcohol with a pleasant doughy malt facet. Palate is medium with dry finish. Very enjoyable. berkshirejohn (1771), Bracknell, Berkshire, England Jul 22, 2009 33cl bottle from the Wine Company, Slough. Golden amber with a billowing off-white head; slightly spicy malt aroma; light fruity malt flavour with some yeast; light bitter finish. Pleasant enough, but not what I’d expect from a Christmas beer. DalzAle (476), Eden Prairie, Minnesota, USA Jul 9, 2009 Hazy orange pour, little carbonation and nice hoppy orange aroma. Flavor was somewhat sour orange right away, then bitter hops and finished spicy and a little funky. An ok beer, but probably won’t buy again. imdownthepub (5089), Banbury, Oxfordshire, England Jun 12, 2009 Bottled, 330ml aged 4 years. Gold amber with full white head. Cor, this is good, initial drying hop not though with a touch of alcohol sweetness, deep malts, quite grainy and yeasty but in a good way. Later the hops hold their own way, with a bit of a floral display on the tongue. Great beer, its a shame there is only 330ml in a bottle. douglas88 (1559), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA May 30, 2009 Bottle shared by footbalm, thanks Eric. Best before August of 2013. Pours a cloudy copper color with a small white head. The aroma is interesting; citrus and yeast, light hops. A sweet and unusual flavor of sweet citrus, hops, and a rich Belgian malt. Easygoing and very drinkable. Nice. shotgunn (32), Boise, Idaho, USA May 14, 2009 It pours a light brown carmel w/a small head that laces the glass nicely. First taste is SWEET??? nothing that I was expecting, being that it says it is a hoppy christmas ale. It has none of the christmas tree taste or hops bite that usually goes w/the what the title suggests. But that’s enough of my ranting, it is a good beer that I would recommend. So, here’s to you, cheers. j12601 (1153), Poughkeepsie, New York, USA May 7, 2009 Bottle at a tasting at Andy’s I think Peter brought this. Pours a hazy golden amber with some brown highlights. Aromas of caramel, toffee, and a bit of citrus. Pretty thick with some malt, and more caramel coming through. Light bitter finish. PilsnerPeter (2598), Flushing, New York, USA May 7, 2009 Bottle: Deep orange with a dense light tan head. Chalky dry phenolic aroma- subtle caramel in the back of nondescript fruit notes. Creamy texture. Lightly bitter flavor but very dry overall- chalky with some underlying soft Belgian amber malts and a grassy finish. Dry and easy drinking.
