A fantastic Christmas beer, but one that defies the universal custom of a stronger, spicier beer for the holiday season. At 7% alcohol by volume, this one is relatively lighter in alcohol than the Guldenberg, and does not pack the hop punch of the XX. It combines some of the best elements of those other two beers – with a fine balance of malt and hops, complex character, a refreshing dryness, and a gorgeous cellar aroma – but is distinguished by its festive copper color. The 1999 Père Noël was a bit of a departure, with a very appealing yeasty tartness that was not readily discernible in earlier years.

A very fizzy light amber ale. Caramel malt, fruity yeast and floral hops. Nice aroma. Moderate bitterness. Mild sweetness. Vague spices. Not a traditional Xmas beer, but still tasty.

Pours a hazy golden-amber color, topped with afairly small white head. Malty aroma with notes of fruit and yeast. Some alcohol presence and slightly spicy. Taste is sweet, malty and yeasty. Some spices in the finish as well as gentle bitterness. Well, not really my kind of beer, but passable.

Bottle - Pours a cloudy, amber/orange with a big, creamy head and lacing. Sweet and spice aromas with something phenolic. The taste is in a good spot with an alcohol note. Liked it.

Ambar miel oscura. Curiosa. Hibrida. Merece probarla.

330 ml bottle with a BB date of 2018. Poured, with some sediment, into a Belgian snifter. Hazy honey colored body is topped by a decent sized and quite durable head. Splotchy lacing. Aroma: sweet and fruity with a fair amount of alcohol. Flavor: moderately bitter. Bready, nutty and lightly fruity. O: An Xmas ale that is neither sweet nor spicy, this will break some expectations for some.

11.2 ounce bottle poured into a brandy snifter. Clear copper with a big white head of foam. Very good retention. The aroma is floral, juicy, a little spicy. Mildly bitter and nicely sweet. Dries out to a pleasant floral bitterness. Crisp finish. Medium carbonation. Very easy drinking. Dangerous at 7%.

Bottle. Colour...hazy, dark gold with a huge white head. Nose...fruity, sweetly spicy and quite yeasty. Palate...tangy, moderately plush and quite frothy with waves of orchard fruit, esters, peach pits, apricot skins and lemon zest. The finish is long and sweetly tart.
