3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
750ml green bottle, tissue wrapped. Dark gold pour, hazy. Large and foamy white cap. Nose has banana ester and orange peel. Taste has notes of fruit, light spice, yeast, citrus/orange peel. Bitter kick at the end, bit of grass, orange peel and yeast at the end as well. Well carbonated, medium bodied. Overall good, not really that complex and the late bitterness kind of dominates the brew.

On tap at Moeder Fontainas. Amberish gold, thin white foam. A solid Belgian ale, quite malty, rich, a little fruity booze, restrained yeast spice, pleasantly balanced off with a bitter finish. Decent enough.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Nice looking hazy chestnut brown beer with a thin white head that lasts. Nose of sour yeast, cardamon, and lemon grass. Flavor is a bit different than the smell, mainly because the sourness is not too prominent, instead being replaced by a surprising sweet malty character followed by sweeter spices, such as nutmeg and cinnamon. Combined with tight bubbles, and a smooth mouth feel, this is a pleasant beer that doesn’t overwhelm, but still manages to have a complex flavor profile. One of the better holiday beers I’ve tasted.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Nose is dust, yeast, grass, hey, pepper. Taste is very bitter, leading yeast, grass, hey, grain and resin finish. There is a slight undertones, of sweetness and spice in the finish. Mouthfeel is slick.
It’s a very nice Belgian beer, but is festive in name only for me, I don’t really see why it is a Christmas drink so loses points.
