A fantastic Christmas beer, but one that defies the universal custom of a stronger, spicier beer for the holiday season. At 7% alcohol by volume, this one is relatively lighter in alcohol than the Guldenberg, and does not pack the hop punch of the XX. It combines some of the best elements of those other two beers with a fine balance of malt and hops, complex character, a refreshing dryness, and a gorgeous cellar aroma but is distinguished by its festive copper color. The 1999 Pre Nol was a bit of a departure, with a very appealing yeasty tartness that was not readily discernible in earlier years.

vintage 2009. pours a cloudy yellow orange color with lots of stray yeast floaters. extreme fizzyness looks like its going to have a carbonated bite to it. aroma is spices along with some caramel malts. hmm taste is nothing like i expected from a Belgian brewery. reminds me a a typical cream ale but a lot better than anything Ive had in that style. wow this is good! tastes opens up more with every sip. its not such a complex and big beer but its done so well. very solid beer

Rankes Christmas beer, with light beige, thin but stable, creamy head and deep peach blond colour with brownish hue. Fruity and estery aroma of apple, mango, apricot, caramel and fresh green hops. Malty and fruity in the mouth, light sweetness, more drying spiciness in the finish with a refreshing, thirst-quenching, resinous, aromatic hop bitterness in the end. Atypical for a Belgian Christmas beer but very good - and I had not expected anything less from this brewery.

Average frothy off-white head, slowly diminishing. Hazy copper sparkling body. Contains sweet (dried) fruits, forest fruits, citrus fruits, spices (cinnamon) Light acidic, then bitter and sweet, then sweet and finally bitter. Medium body, creamy texture, soft carbonation. I like the aroma's but the changes in flavor are a bit harsh.

Bottle. Slightly cloudy amber pour, with an off white head. Bread, cardboard, berry, a bit fruity, spiiced, mild black pepper, and light sourness. Not much like a Christmas ale. Ok
