Everything I was looking forward to in a saison beer, and with refreshingly lower alcohol than is typical nowadays.

Mild hopfig hefiger Antrunk mit hellen Noten. Harmonisch, etwas rauchig, geringe Kräuternoten. Insgesamt frisch, rund. 10/8/8//9//9

Hoppy saison since 2010 with thin, snow white head and hazy yellow blond colour. Aroma restrainedly fruity, some hints of lemon peel, yeasty, grassy hops. Dry fruity taste of unripe peach, crisp with sharpish carbonation, strong peppery hop bitterness in the finish especially for this style - but we all know De Ranke prefers bitter and sour over sweet so this comes as no surprise. They have achieved better than this, but this is still an enjoyable beer.

Bottle. Aroma of pear and grape. Slightly darker golden body with thin, quickly dissipating head. Taste begins with spice and citrus zest, followed by fruit notes and subtle hops Crisp with a dry, bitter finish.

On tap in Antwerp. Pours deep golden colored with a creamy white one finger head. Aroma of pears, buttery notes, some yeast and grass. Flavor is extremely buttery tasting alongside sweet honey and some yeast funk. On the sweet side. Medium bodied with low carbonation . Wasn’t a huge fan of this one.

Boutip (4775) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - OCT 6, 2014
Bottle: Poured a deep cloudy amber color ale with a nice tan foamy head with excellent retention and some good lacing. Aroma consists of light rustic malt with sweet undertones also noticeable. Taste is also dominated by rustic malt notes with light residual sugars notes and a mildly spicy yeast notes with bready undertones. Body is full with limited carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Wonderfully executed with great drinkability and just enough complexity.

Pours a hazy light amber body with a medium head. Yeasty and a little funky aroma. Nice and a little funky taste with tones of hay and fruits.

Oct. 2, 2014. Bottle at beerbistro. Slightly orangey yellow colour, with white thin head. Straw and lemon aromas, hint of biscuit; aroma is very faint. Lemon, straw flavours, lingering bite. Drier on the palate than expected. Not excessively fond of this saison compared to others, but it’s still ok.

Bottle. Hazy orange colour with a good white head. The aroma has notes of clove and yeast. Medium body, the flavour is dry. Crisp with a fairly strong bitterness.
