COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle conditioned and filtered keg.
Ingredients: Hops, malt, water, yeast, sucrose, spices.
Named after the original name of the brewery - De Gouden Arend (the Golden Eagle).
Arend Double has a warming sweet caramel flavour in combination with a subtle bitterness of hops. The full-bodied aftertaste turns this beer into a modern top fermented quality product.

The dark counterpart of Arend Blond and the successor of the old Rochus but not nearly as interesting and in my opinion a purely commercial move. Just another cliché dubbel, with the stereotypica aroma of caramel, coffee grounds, bitter chocolate and dark fruits, a sweetish and subduedly fruity taste on a malty basis, in the end with a slightly toasted bitterishness.

Countbeer (4311) - Best of E-Town mit ein Brauhaus, NETHERLANDS - JUN 2, 2014
Bottle: Served in a Chouffe glass: Medium sizes creamy creme head on top of a hazy brown to ruby colored beer. Aromas of iron, malts, watery prunes, some corn, some nuts, minerals and diapers. Flavours of porridge, toast, iron, malts, warm, old wood, strange bitters, some (rotten) oat, hint of nuts and some strange and not so tasty prunes... Aftertaste is bitter, nutty, malty, some hay and bread... Low carbo, creamy mouthfeel, medium bodied and a light watery warm texture. Couldn’t finish this beer, very unbalanced flavours!

Bottle 330 ml at home, into a big tulip glass. ABV 6.5% Brown chestnut colour, seems quite clear, with nice activity in the glass. Head is tan in colour, with good height, maybe one and a half finger, good density too. Good retention as well, eventually collapses leaving light lacing around the glass and quite a bit of foam on the beer’s surface. Aroma is slighty lactic, has some wood and cork, red fruits and grapes. Very interesting aroma. After it has warmed up a bit some caramel notes seem to surface and maybe some toffee. Taste has a nce sourness in it, with grapes again, some more toffee now and light roasted malts, but still it’s not your typical dubbel. Red fruits dominate here, along with wood-cork and some spice like notes on the finish. Medium on the body with a good mount of carbonation and a light dryness on the palate. Overall this was quite nice, different than what I was expecting but still very good.

Bottle @All My Vinyl Tasting, Edinburgh. Loved the nose, excellent spicy, sherbet with some apple fruit going on, really nice. Too sweet in the mouth with a fruity unripe apple thing going on.
