Ingredients: Hops, malt, water, yeast, sucrose, spices.
Named after the original name of the brewery - De Gouden Arend (the Golden Eagle).
Arend Double has a warming sweet caramel flavour in combination with a subtle bitterness of hops. The full-bodied aftertaste turns this beer into a modern top fermented quality product.

0.33 l bottle. Hazy dark amber color with diminishing head. Perfumed spice rack aroma with notes of ginger, orange, pepper and licorice. Gingery slightly berryish flavor with dull spicy and cidery notes.

330ml bottle (Brugs Beertje)
Sweet fruity aroma. A bit fizzy and harsh, so needs swirling a fair amount. Freezer meltwater taste, grainy too. Fairly bitter, and no hint of 6.5% alcohol. Dry and nutty. Long nutty finish.

My Bottom Line:
This spicy quaffer of a Dubbel purports licorice and black pepper to offset a polite tandem of chocolatey maltiness and fruity yeast. Its balanced finish reveals more pepper and some supporting hops, all the while increasing drinkability.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam floats atop the hazy reddish dark brown.
-The spice mix shares some affinities with that of Pannepot’s.
-The body is lean and the carbonation prickly.
-There is nothing special here, yet there is nothing wrong either. It’s an enjoyable and very drinkable Dubbel.
-The fruity esters are reminiscent of dried cranberries or cherries.

Bottle; best before March ’09.

Bottled. A hazy dark amber beer with a huge orange head. The aroma is sweet malty with primary notes of caramel. The flavor is also sweet malty but with notes of both caramel, spices, and wood.

(Bottle 33 cl) Courtesy of yespr/Ungstrup. Pours a slightly hazy, dark amber with a creamy, off-white head. Sweetish, fruity, lightly perfumy nose. Medium body with fruity notes and some flowery accents. Dry, lightly bitter finish. After a couple of hopeless fruit beers it’s great to see De Ryck back in form. 120108

Bottle. [Great two day tasting session @ Papsoe] Average fizzy beige head that mostly diminished. Light cloudy amber color. Spare lacework. Caramel was evident with some fruit, citrus and grain. Over the palate some berries, light alcoholic notes, dried fruit. Medium bodied with an average carbonation. Moderated sweet with a hint of acidic. Fruity sweet finish.

[Bottle @ Papsoe] Dark amber with medium head. Malty aroma with fruits, caramel and yeast. Fresh flavor with roasted malt, yeast, ripe fruits and chocolate.
