Named after the original name of the brewery - De Gouden Arend (the Golden Eagle).
Arend Double has a warming sweet caramel flavour in combination with a subtle bitterness of hops. The full-bodied aftertaste turns this beer into a modern top fermented quality product.

Gusher! Dark brown, creamy white foam. A lot of carbonation. Unbalanced beer. Aroma of caramel and dark fruit. Bit sweet, medium bitter. Not very good.

Bardzo dobre piwo, ktore rosnie w oczach. Chodzi mi oczywiscie o piane. Spora i drobinkowa metnosc, kolor ciemno rubinowo-bordowy. Piana niebywale trwala. Aromat sliwek i innych owocow suszonych. W smaku slodkawe ale nie przytlaczajace. Lekka wytrawnosc daje sie zaznaczyc na finiszu.

33 cl. bottle @ home, bought @ Hogerdijk, Culemborg. Hazy orange brown with an off-white head. Malty aroma with lots of herbs. Nice full flavour with a taste that matches the aroma. Creamy mouthfeel. Nige dubbel.

Intriguing aroma, which hints at the enormous amount of spices including in this beer. Palate and look are below average. The color is unconvincing murky orange instead of the beautiful caramel I hoped to encounter. The taste is that of sweet and sour orange, together with lots and LOTS of spices, but not the preferable kind. The review below me sums it up pretty well. The taste reminded me of some funky still-riping mead-with-pepper I tasted last month.

Dark amber colored pour. Small off-white head. Little bit of lacing. A spicy aroma. Sweet flavor of malt and spice. Mostly a hop spice, but not bitter. Not bad.

33 cl. bottle @ home. Procured @ Willems. BBF 12/2013. I love the escutcheon label design – even if I suspect that the beer inside is going to be average at best, I cannot help but to get exited about anything bearing an escutcheon. The sucker pours a copper brownish amber with some beige bubbles quickly separating like islands and vanishing. Smells like cough syrup, overly sweet semi-jagermeister herbs, liquorish, even more spices and biscuit, candy sugar,… am I supposed to drink this or take one tablespoon with each meal? Taste is thick cough syrup, candy sugar syrup, liquorish, very sweet spices, rum cake, wowza, I am not sure as to what this sweet concoction is? sweet metals, copper, medicinal herbs, very thick, coffee, almost hint sour,… I am not sure as to what this concoction is but I am intrigued. Carb. is too explosive & body a touch too light. Get out of here :)

On tap in Nuetnigenough. A kind of dark thinnish caramelly brown colour. A fairly standard dubbel, quite malty with a little bit of hop in the finish. Mostly caramel and a bit of yeasty spice. Pleasant but not very exciting.

Brownish red with a good head of lasting beige foam; unclear and more brown coloured once the yeast from the bottom has been added The nose is a mix of bitter and light sour, in which the hops really come through, refreshing and almost sharp but not unpleasant; underneath there seems to be some fruity sweetness and spices The taste is more roasted than the smell led to believe, quit sour (lemon-ish), going in the direction of some Vlaams Oud Bruins (tannin) but with more spices and a lightly roasted character. Quite a strong taste even if in itself it’s a rather light beer and more of a thirst quencher. I believe that the sourness that I’m picking up comes mostly from spices. Some of the sourness remains in the aftertaste, smoothened a bit by the roasted malts that now become more apparent once the sourness is not so prominent anymore. Back at the time when I rated this, I found it to be too sour to my liking and quite spiced... Perhaps I should re-rate this
