Medium aroma of malts, caramel, Belgian yeast, fruit and spices.

Turbid golden/amber beer with a medium/large off-white head.

Medium sweet with malts, caramel, Belgian yeast, fruit and spices.

This beer is slightly intense and balanced. Easy and pleasant to drink, but lacks depth, complexity and character.

Yellow brown, light amber body headed by a magnificent and lasting foam like beaten egg whites. Aroma of biscuit, spices, grass, fruit, flowers, honey; vegetal. Elegant, fruity, smoky; fine malt, alcohol quite present; hints of spices and fruit; a bit metallic; perfect balance between malt and hop. As a true Belgian one : balanced and refined, with character, and more than just a standard one. perfect length; heady AND fine.

My bottle, I’m afraid was almost three years past the best-buy date. Arend Tripel had almost no head (just a cream-colored, very thin layer). No lacing to speak of. The aroma was of almost overripe fruit, fruit cake, tropical fruit, candy sugar, and possibly a hint of alcohol. Taste is of all that, with no bitterness or booze. Mouthfeel is medium, and this Arend Tripel finished semi-sweet and seemed quite aged. RJT

Pours a dark honey color with the cloudy characteristic of a belgian. Leaves a full what head that leaves more lacing than most. Immediate honey on the nose - if not honey than a sauternes-style sweetness. Taste is an instant sweetness that transitions to a bit of fresh water than to a light sourness and a slightly bitter finish. Notes of honey and dessert wine (again, sauternes) that then fades into a tart lemon/plum (if that makes any sense. I actually find the initial rich sweetness that fades into a light tartness highly appealing. Mouthfeel is slightly viscous, but not sticky with a soft carbonation. This surprised me to the upside in a lot of ways. Sure, its not as complex as others for its category, but I find it delicious.
