3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle @ home. Colore giallo ambrato quasi perfettamente limpido.

2.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
22-Sep-13 (330-ml bottle, Best before Dec 2013: Free sample bottle for stewarding the 2012 World Beer Cup in San Diego, CA)
This beer is quite hazy and golden-amber in color, pouring an inch of bubbly, off-white head that recedes to a quarter-inch blanket that’s propped up by a significant amount of carbonation rising through the beer. The nose is unexpectedly fruity and tart, smelling like dried apricots and pink grapefruit with quite a musty, attic-like aroma as well. Smells interesting, but unfortunately, it fails to follow through on the palate. The initial flavor does have some light fruitiness, perhaps gently tart stone fruit, and the malt is light and toasty, but the dusty, musty character takes over quickly and tastes like I’ve licked a dirty floor. The beer is light and somewhat watery in body, medium in carbonation, and fully dry with a dusty mouthfeel. Overall, I can’t say I’ve enjoyed this beer. It certainly smells better to me than it tastes, but there’s just nothing pleasant in the flavor, nothing warm, inviting, or delicious, so I have no desire to finish the bottle.

2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 6/20
Pours a golden orange color with a slight fruity aroma. Taste is sweet and refreshing with a melon aftertaste. A light Belgian beer that was easy drinking and hid the alcohol content as well.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
33cl bottle, sampled post ZBF 2013. - Pours a near-convincing orange-amber with good lively white foam. Somewhat flat and cardboard aromas. Taste is split up between upfront herbal spicy hops and timid caramalts imparting a thin body for the style. Thin, but/and thus sessionable. Decent quality B-hop aftertaste. This is in the midrange, but any brewery that helps along the revival of the style Spéciale belge beyond Palm has my support.
