"Little Owl", a blond beer for quiet tasting created in collaboration with the Regionaal Landschap Vlaamse Ardennen (Flemish Ardennes Regional Landscape conservation board) and the Little Owl Project Leader to support the Little Owl project. To emphasise our regional identity and the links to this little creature, it includes carefully selected herbs and spices from the Flemish Ardennes. These give the beer a unique, full bodied aroma and taste and one will soon make you want more.

Ingredients: barley malt, maize, hops, yeast, woodruff, angelica, sloe.

Blond en mistig bier, behoorlijke witte schuimkraag. Aroma van gist, zand, frisse kruiden. Licht tot medium bitter, licht zoet. Behoorlijke body voor een relatief licht biertje. Laag co2, zacht in de mond. Behoorlijk lekker biertje voor zijn stijl.

The aroma is flowery, hoppy and rich, a good start. The taste has something heatening on the tongue and also the flowers from the aroma are coming back in the taste with a little touch of vanilla. A nice, fun beer. I’d recommand it by fish-dishes.

Een kruidig ruikende en smakende tripel. Ook hop is op de achtergrond aanwezig.

Bottle. Normally I wouldn't recommend a below 3.0 beer. But this is nice. It's not complicated, a good blonde ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from de Bierschuur in Poppel. The beer has a golden/blonde color and a rich large white head with a lot of bubbles. The aroma is malty with also tones of herbs, some hops, yeast and a little citrus. The taste is light sweet from the fruits to change into a malty bitterness with tones of spices and hops. The finish is full and a little bitter. Nothing quiet special this beer, which I will soon forget.

Blonde session beer since 2009, apparently to support the conservation of the little owl, a species I have rarely encountered but I can only support this. This beer has an off-white, creamy head and misty golden blonde colour; aroma of bread, apple, vanilla, cardboard, gooseberry; soft fruity, bit tart onset, refreshing, smooth, straightforward but balanced and flawless with mild hop bitterishness in the finish.

330 ml bottle. Appearance: Clear body, deep orange, with a two fingers snow white head, snow white. Leaving lacing left around the glass. Aroma: malts, peaches, sugar, quite faint. Taste: Starts with sweet malts, some fruit, followed by a quite unique herbal and spicey taste which has some earthy notes. Medium thin body, above average carbonation. The herbal and spicey taste does give it a own taste.

330ml bottle from Vanuxeem. Pours clear gold with healthy white head. Aroma is herbs, moss and wet grass. Taste is herbs & typical Belgian blonde flavours. Not a bad beer.

33cl bottle, Delhaize Wondelgem, bb06/2016. Ponderous brown treebark pour. Indistinct marshy nose, with fumes of cooked herbs and jenever. Taste delivers a strange herbal composition as well, reminiscent of autumn twigs, wayside herbs after rain, moss, glanced over by a silky belgian yeast profile. Maize? Did not get the "blackthorn"/sloe at all, a taste that works well in jenever and gin. Odd, ponderous brew, lacking some elegance, but at least with an apt enough name.

Bottled 02/08/14. A hazy blonde coloured beer with a white head. This gushed a bit on opening so the yeast got in there. That yeast is typically Belgian as is the hop profile. Quite big bodied from the malts too. Quite heavy and tastes a bit stronger than it is. Fairly good.
