"Little Owl", a blond beer for quiet tasting created in collaboration with the Regionaal Landschap Vlaamse Ardennen (Flemish Ardennes Regional Landscape conservation board) and the Little Owl Project Leader to support the Little Owl project. To emphasise our regional identity and the links to this little creature, it includes carefully selected herbs and spices from the Flemish Ardennes. These give the beer a unique, full bodied aroma and taste and one will soon make you want more.

Ingredients: barley malt, maize, hops, yeast, woodruff, angelica, sloe.

De Ryck stayed in my mind for a long time by making a really nice beer you would always only get half a bottle of. Because the rest exploded all around you or at best turned to foam. This beer, however, is very mature. Medium alcohol, great grassy/honeyish smell, good honey taste combined with freshness. Finally a long lasting bitter palate that manifests only 15 inutes later to it’s full potential. Great stuff!

Bottle, 33 cl. Pressmeeting @ brewery on 04.09.09. Hazy dark golden color, with nice white head. Aroma spices, malts, hops. Medium body. Taste good spices, malts, and hopsbitterness. Orginial and very good beer. Like it !

From bottle at Oud Arsenaal. Deep golden colour with a dense offwhite head. Fruity and yeasty aroma, hints of oranges. Dry, fruity with a mild bitter punch. As only Belgians can do it, elegant.

Blonde légèrement trouble, fine pétillance, mousse persistante. Plutôt complexe : épicée, herbeuse et un rien fruitée, avec une certaine amertume. Très intéressante par sa différence !

Brilliant gold, effervescent and holding up a fine white head. Aroma lime, sesame, farmyard and a slight natural yoghurt sharpness. Bright and lagery/kolsch-like with a fresh acidity, lemony spice and hint of floweriness suggesting (to me) cardamom. The fact it actually contains angelica, woodruff and blackthorn- 3 spices I have never seen declared on a beer bottle- and all of which are discreetly integrated makes me wonder how many other Belgians are aromatised with spices more exotic than we dare imagine. Just feels like a really well made German lager or kolsch, with an added pinch of...mystique. Pure sorcery.

Hazy orange/amber body. Off-white rocky head. Nice aroma of hops, yeast, spices (as in a mediterraneal spice mixture) - bit sweet, but complex and well balanced. Moderately bitter, moderately sweet flavour: warming with a gentle sweetness. Well balanced and fully bodied.

(Bottled) Hazy orange with a small, but firm and lasting, lacy head. Lots of orange fruitiness in the nose, with some grainy maltiness and yeast. Flavor is grainy-pale-caramely-malty, orange-fruity, yeasty. Medium to full body, soft CO2. A strange but quite tasty brew, that feels a lot stronger than 6.5% - yet not in a bad way. 4446

Pours hazy amber with small tight white head. Aroma is spicy, citrus with typical Belgian yeasts. Taste is very interesting, fruity, spicy and Belgian yeast. Nice dry bitter finish. Much better than it’s score would have you beleive.
