Poured a almost clear honey caramel color. Small white head that fades fast leaving little to no lacing. Smells like alcohol, honey and malt. Tastes like a mead with a bit of malt in there. Or a braggot. Leaves a sour sweetness in the mouth, and a hotness from the alcohol. Not bad, but wouldn’t be the first triple I reach for.

75cl bottle sourced from perhaps the best beer warehouse in Belgium - five months after brewing date so should be in peak condition. Sugary amber-cloured strong ale, thin-bodied for its alcoholic strength, which was its only salvation from sink-pour. I am making a stew with the remaining two-thirds.

Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20090822]

Bottle, 75cl, courtesy of fonefan. A more or less clear, amber beer with a small, off-white head. Some anise-like aromas initially, soon overpowered by caramel maltyness and some alcohol. Sweet in the mouth, yet dryish, well carbonated and warming. Bitter finish with a bit too much warmth. I like this one, but it’s too much on the alcohol side to be really pleasant. 090822
