Bottle at Kulminator, Antwerp. Vintage 1999. Thanks to crittervision, the american uy who shared this bottle with us! Yellow beer, white head. Cheese aroma, woody, oaky, sourish, vinous, grassy notes. Sourish flavor, grassy, cheese, woody, some fruity notes. Nice balance. You can feel this beer has been stored, still it has character. Very impressing!

On tap at the brewery. It pours a slightly unclear body, copper colored and topped by a small, dense, off-white head. Cellary, slightly sugary nose with lemon juice and some barnyard. The palate is dry, astringent and still sweeitsh, at least compared to the most authentic geuzes. Lemon and cellar flavors, rather uncomplex. Definitely in another league than the geuzes from Girardin, Cantillon and others, but also in a much higher ranked league than the Chapeau fruit lambics. 110501

Transparent gold, thin white ring. Acetic acid, peach, urine. Flavor is very citric with heavy grapefruit and citrus, also moderately acetic. Thin body makes it seem singular despite high carbonation, and the acetic finish is the same as the beginning.

Sampled from bottle at the brewery during Toer de Geuze ’11. Hazy amber, small off-white hue. Sweet and dusty fruits to the nose. Acidity mixed with candy sweetness in flavour. Dry ending. Palate cleansing (Wambeek, 01.05.2011).

375ml bottle vintage 1993 at DHVL.
Appearance : Clear yellow with no head, no lacing.
Aroma : Peachy and acidic. Almost cider vinegar. Fruity and quite woody. A bit unsual I’d say.
Taste : Very very sour. Quite lactic and woody. Sharp sourness on the finish with notes of oak.
Overall : Very weird one here. The nose is pretty crappy. Peachy and vinegary. Taste however is quite interesting. Very intense sourness, quite lactic and quite woody. I don’t think I ever had a gueuze that was as sour as this one. I think I understant why other raters like this one a lot. For me, it was only an intense sour kick within a weird gueue with no real elegance.
