From the barrel at the brewery. Barrel from apr 12. Quite hazy golden. Aroma of wood, some tartness, slight fruitiness. A lot of sulphur and milky sourness.

UPDATED: FEB 4, 2015 Draught pour@Nieuwjaarsreceptie Gentse Biervereniging, merci John. Piquant fumes of old lemon rind and rotten stone fruit, dampened lemon juice merge into sweeter, lemonade droplets of distilled funk in the rough. A gorgeously vile & dirty lemon juice cider of a lambiek by a brewery who sadly have opted to ruin their rustic base lambieks by fruit syrup swill in their main beer range.

UPDATED: SEP 3, 2014 De Troch’s flat, unblended lambic, the basis of their Chapeau range, in which it is usually completely overpowered by sugar and artificial aromas. Golden blonde, hazy, fresh, orangey touch, sourish without becoming too astringent. Not the best in its style but very interesting to taste in its ’naked’ form.

Sample @ the brewery, straight from the barrel. Cloudy yellow/amber colour, no foam. No carbonation. Easy drinkable. Light sour with light bitter finish. Aroma of green apples and lemon. Not bad.

Cask at WoSF 2014. Cloudy gold pour. Vegetal (light beany notes), light gastric notes, funky. Taste is sour, vegetal, citric and gastric notes, grassy, veggies. Med body. Not bad, but far from the best.

At WE of Spontaneous Fermentation 2014. Hazy straw color with a small quickly disappearing white head and no lacing. Aroma is herbal, floral, slightly acidic and grainy notes. Taste is also herbal/floral with a light acidic touch, residual sugars and yogurt notes. Medium body. Flat. Not bad.

Sampled directly from the barrel @Brouwerij De Troch. 12 months old. Sunny yellow color. No head, no carbonation. Dry and dusty aroma. Not much sourness in the flavor yet. Light grainy, dusty and mild lemony. Soft in the mouth. Light in body. Soft sourness linger in the finish. [Toer de Gueuze 2013]

From the foeder, 12 months of age - "about halfway through its fermentation" according to the man with the bucket. Hazy pale yellow color, frothy white head that settles quickly. Aroma of summerfruit, light cotrus. Taste hasa soft edge of sour lemon. Tasty.

Sampled from the barrel // poured from a jug @ Tour de Geuze. About 12 months old and described by them as still fermenting by them and young. Appearance is also super-murky, milky with some bubbles here,… I quite like their older stuff and lambic I have had from them before but this is a bit too weird for me to get into,… I have never had a lambic like this. Nose is pure rotting grains, spoiled yoghurt, very lactic, rotting barn, mash, soggy cereal,… Taste is fermenting grains, mash, lactic, spoiled yoghurt, rotting barn, mildew, residual sugar,… Watery but also sort of full because of grainy and residual nature,… Wow too far out for me I supposed, how much extracts do you need to add to this in Gods name in order before it tastes like their sweetened & artificial stuff. This stuff is so weird....
