COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

Mooie voluptueuze dark ipa.

15cl from bottle @ Utrechtse Bierbrouwers Festival 2014. Clear dark reddish-brown color, rocky creamy off-white head, good lacing. Aroma dark fruits nose, sour cherry, slightly roasty, licorice, grapefruit, red wine notes. Alcohol is slightly present. Taste medium sweet, medium to heavy bitterness, lightly sour. Full body, sticky and creamy texture, soft carbonation, fine and quite bitter finish. A bit too sweet and sour for me and for a black IPA but acceptable.

Bottel tasted at UBF on 10/05/2014. Orange-brown colour (not really black) with a nice head. The aroma is full of roasted malts and hops. Bitternness is Ok and the beer is well balanced with hops and malts taste. Next one please!

Aroma of malts, caramel, tropical fruit, aromatic hops. Flavour is malty and hopy. Not your regular Black IPA, the term "dark IPA" is indeed better suited.

(Drinking date: 19 April 2014) ) Ruby red coloured beer with a layer of really thin foam. Really nice aroma of hops, fruits, yeast, malts, flowers. Could have been more intense aroma. Taste is bitter, with a little bit of sweetness in it. Really bitter aftertaste. The body is too watery and the carbonation is too heavy. Overall, this beer is OK but by far not the best. The mouthfeel should be better and the taste should be more overwhelming. Still enjoying it however, because it’s not a bad beer or so. That’s why I give it the total score of 3.5

Bottle: Served in a Chouffe glass: Medium sized, vast creamy to beige orange tinting colored foamy head on top of a hazy to murky orange/amber to brown colored beer. Not the BIPA look, ay.... The aroma has a nice hoppy and flower tone with some floral grassy tones, some carbo gass, light malty, some hop fruits, light toast and a hint of some liquorice/bay leaf tones. Flavours of toast, herbs, light roast, malts, bitters, some caramel/bread, leaves, light hoppy as in grapefruit, some floral tones and grass and a light spicy edge. BIPA as in Brown IPA... Hmmm... It suits... I guess... Aftertaste is a bit spicy with some nice bitters (quite lingering), grass, malts, hops and some grapefruit. Low carbo, creamy mouthfeel, medium bodied and a creamy texture. Not the typical black (!) IPA, but still I quite enjoyed this beer. A good hopped toasted amber ale.
