21 Oct 2012 in Valkenburg, Holland: Cafe De Grendelpoort is having a Bockfest and this was one of the brews on-tap. Dark reby red in colour with a tan foaming head. Sweet malty molasses rule the taste and smell as most Bocks do, this was slightly sweeter than most though and a bit thicker and stickier in the body. The beer becomes more interesting as it warms a little, dark fruit notes appear in the aroma and taste, caramel becomes detatched from the other malt flavours and a mild hoppiness pops up at the end of each sip. I think I tried all the Bocks during the weekend and I enjoyed this one about the best.

Bottle thanks to ChrisO. It pours clear red-brown with a small light tan head. The nose is sweet, toffee, liquorice, rocky road, treacle and cough drops. The taste is sweet, caramel, treacle, aniseed, dark fruits, jam, warming alcohol, toast and mild acidity with a dry finish. Medium body and fine, prickly carbonation. So-so.

UPDATED: SEP 27, 2014 33cl bottle Appearannce: Ruby with a offwhite big head , with not not that great retention leaving just some lacing. Aroma: It has notes of straw and camerlised malts. Taste: Sweet tcaramel flavor with a bit of fruity notes. and some nice roastyness Average carbonation, medium body. , but a slightly sticky texture. Rating updated 2.7(6-3-5-2-11) for the older version the new batch adds a nice roastyness which improves things.or maybe th other bottle was just too old even while it should be ok according to the date..

Sold as barrel aged but I don’t see any markings on the label... Deep brown with small off-white head. Brown sugar, bread, dried plums, vanilla, some porto maybe. Taste is mainly sweet with light bitter finish. Medium bodied with full carbonation. Not bad, but the aroma is a bit light.
