COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This rich, complex stout features a deep, layered malt profile enhanced by slightly sweet flavours of white oak, molasses, and star anise. All of these flavours combine to create an elaborate Imperial Stout suitable for enjoying today and made for cellaring to be enjoyed down the road.

Bottle. Dark, nearly black pour with a small beige head. Aroma is malty chocolate with hints of vanilla and dark fruit. Taste is chocolate, some roasty notes, hints of coffee and cherry. Not bad flavour, but quite light for the style and ABV... Thin and not well balanced.

Pours a nice semi dense black with brown foamy head. I didnít get much of the barrel in this. In fact, if they would have left out the part about barrel aging I would have rated this higher. Itís actually a really good imperial stout. Beautiful dark chocolate aromas and flavors. I love the bitter cocoa finish on this. Maybe a touch of maple. No booze. Well made... But where is the barrel influence?

Bottle shared with northropfrye. Not really an intense aroma, faint molasses. Apperance is really dark, but the head dissipates really quickly. Taste is sort of like a bitter coca cola. Palate is a bit weak. I was probably expecting something a little more commanding from an imperial stout.

Dark brown body, brown foamy head, some lacing. Lactose, milk chocolate, roast malts, dark chocolate aroma, but not super pronounced. Taste is sweet, touch of milk chocolate, some cocoa, a touch of woodiness. Abv well masked, really not evident that this is 10.5 at all. I would have guessed much lower. Over all, not the greatest imperial stout, but decent. Almost more of a milk stout I would say.

Where does this "2" score come from? There must be some technical issue with this beer rating. Anyway it pours as car oil black, minimal brown head. Aroma is straight to bourbon barrel and licorice. Taste adds vanilla and dark fruits. Low bitter finish. Quite good!

Pours black. Aroma and taste are sweet black licorice and not very enjoyable.

[6222-20140321] Bottle. Grainy smoky burnt taffy aroma has a bit of a roasted band-aid note. Black body with a medium-lasting brown body. Taffy molasses and roasted wood chocolate chips flavour. Full body. Really wonderful, but apparently a lot of the hops dropped out as itís an older bottle. (7/4/9-/4/16) 4.0

Draft - Dark roast and molasses. Deep brown with a very rich nice brown head. Tons of liquorice, molasses and dark bitter roast. Liquorice notes are very nice and add some great complexity. Quite nice.

Poured from the tap. Black with tan head. Mild roast malt with a bit of chocolate. Licorice and medicinal quality to it that adds sweetness along with a bit if molasses. This quality could put some people off as itís the dominant flavour, but itís not overbearing in my opinion. Medium body.
