3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 WheatKing (744) - Oak Bay, British Columbia, - JUN 5, 2012Maybe the "stiff" in the name came from purely the higher-than-average amount of alcohol? No idea, otherwise. The oak is hardly perceptible. On to the beer! Pretty good, pours black, red when held to the light, nice head. Flavour’s nice, nothing off here and the mouthfeel goes well with the slightly roasted flavours. Lots of stouts taste astringent or metallic to me, not this one. Good enough.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Bendrixian (711) - Halifax, Nova Scotia, CANADA - AUG 27, 2012
Jet black colour. Coffee, roast and chocolate aroma with a woodsy note and a slight corn nut note. Medium to full bodied brew with bitter coffee flavour and a milky/creamy/lees mouthfeel. A bit boring and lacks complexity but not the worst brew.
3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 fiulijn (12360) - Malmö, DENMARK - AUG 16, 2012
Bottle from Firefly, Vancouver Black color; medium sized creamy head, not persistent. Some aroma of roasted malt and cardboard, and light roasted nuts. High carbonation, therefore the mouthfeel is quite smooth; good flavor of roasted malts, quite good chocolate too, with just a hint of vanilla oak. Not overly complex, but very good.

Bottle. Initial aroma is very espresso-like. Almost black with no head. Nice roasted bitterness. Mild carbonation. Just a bit more alcohol than an average stout. Decent effort.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Lagerboy (705) - British Columbia, CANADA - MAR 23, 2012
Darkest ruby brown, small light brown head. Chocolate roasted malt aroma. Burnt roasted malt taste, some chocolate. Low hopped. Oak and vanilla emerges as it warms. Sweet and rich, medium bodied, softly carbed. Short bittersweet finish. NFL (Not For Lagerboys)
3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 presario (4406) - Stampede City, Alberta, CANADA - MAR 17, 2012
Bottle. Very dark brown. I think there was an inch of brown head when I poured it half an hour ago but I was distracted filing tax returns for family and friends. A good strong thick Porter aroma. Chocolate, a hint of vanilla and my friend I call the rubber malt. Big body makes you think it is boozier than it is. Seems to have an alcohol note too it. definately some velvet oak smoothness. Rich indeed. Almost too rich for subtle oak tones but they are there. Lots of chocolate and vanilla malt. Makes me think of an early attempt for Aphrodisiac.
4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Powertrip (999) - Calgary, Alberta, CANADA - MAR 15, 2012
Single bottle purchased from a Co-op Liqour Store in Calgary, AB on 03/15/2012. Colour: Dark...almost black..but hints of purple. Coloured lacing but minimal head. Nose: Wow! Oreo cookie heaven! Traces of tar and milk chocolate. So inviting.... Taste: Medium sweet, medium bitter, light sour. Mmmm...just what I was hoping for - OREO COOKIE didn’t depart after the aroma! Middle has traces of dark fruit, caramel dipped malt, more chocolate. Oak influence is strangely absent, at least for my palate. Still - delightful stuff that doesn’t push the excessive button at all!
3.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 TheHulk (485) - Lethbridge, Alberta, CANADA - MAR 5, 2012
Plenty of strong dark malts and lots of oak in the nose. At first it had a sort of pungent olive juice aroma, but it fades out once you taste it. Good and dark but not really any head at all. Smokey dark malts, chocolate malts and some licorice, but only just a tiny bit. A bit peaky, but the malts smooth the edges some, and then the % on the backside. There’s not much of a surprise, considering it’s barrel aged, but I’ve never had the one the isn’t so I can’t compare. Pretty nice brew, but I thought it would be just a bit more chewy on the dark malts.
2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 CapFlu (4024) - Victoria, British Columbia, CANADA - MAR 1, 2012
(650ml bottle) Purchased at Liquor Plus Douglas for $6.99. Pours a thin, white head atop a near opaque brown body. Peatty nose, somewhat dirty with vanilla base. Smooth, creamy and husky chocolate. Its gross in a warming way. I’m not really getting why they’re calling it stiff - as its somewhat thin. Is this an endorsement? No, definitely not. Try again.
3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 patricks110 (1259) - Alberta, CANADA - FEB 28, 2012
Pours out a dark brown with a finger of dark beige head and some light lacing. Nose of milk chocolate, mild roasted malts, no wood or smoked notes. Taste has chocolate, a bit of a roasted malt, green wood and an overly dry and astringent finish. Just a bit off overall.
