Mandarin orange amber ale???? ok???? Beer appears to be amber brown as it sits in the unfortunate clear bottle. Aroma is interesting and surprisingly good. Aroma is of mandarin oranges but it’s the canned version not fresh, toast, hints of sour. Carbonation is a bit sharp and stingy. Beer taste very unique and I’m digging this. Cereal type malts, and a very obvious but not over bearing canned mandarin flavor. Just got the flavour it almost a perfect mach to that Italian pop "Orangina" mixed with some beer. I can drink this brew but I’d probably get sick of it after a couple and would only want to have once or twice a year but this still a good brew.

This was not bad. Distinct orange aroma and taste, unlike a lot of the really bland fruit beers, this one actually had flavour. I wouldn’t have this one a lot but if I had to have a fruit beer, this one is not bad.

Gee.... Thanks Brad. Wow. I’m excited. Amber brew with a compact white head. Ok. This aroma is borderline disgusting. I don’t want to drink a beer that smells like this. The vegetal orange mix is pretty vile. A jolt of biscuit breaks up the nightmare but only temporarily. This beer isn’t quite as disgusting tasting as it smells. Why was this actually bottled? Orange, biscuit, dull, at least the orange isn’t awfully sweet. Mildly sweet, veggies. Fuck this. I ain’t drinking anymore.

341 ml bottle in a mixed case from TBS, served cold in a tulip glass.
App.: Clear amber with a fair off-white head.
Aroma: Rich, juicy, oily orange notes, a bit of tangy citrus and peel, a bit of orange-flavoured...cough syrup?, some malt notes hiding behind all that orange.
Palate: Medium body, lively effervescence.
Flav.: More of the same orange as the nose, the malts are even further in the background, refreshing; dry with minimal bitterness and a orange-toasted malt finish.
Orange-flavoured Dead Frogs are somewhat refreshing.

341 ml bottle from The Beer Store (part of Winter Mixer). Pours a clear dark orange with small white head. Aroma is definitely mandarin orange slightly sweet, but with a little peel-like sourness as well as some cereal grains. Taste is semi-sweet mandarin orange-like flavour not so sweet as to be classic soda pop-ish (the Orangina comment is bang on) with some grainy malt. Fine, but strong carbonation. Not great, but probably my favourite of the mixer in that it was at least a little different. I have to say though if the Winter Mixer has a mandarin orange beer, a lime beer and a pale lager, what does the Summer Mixer have?
2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 sulawang (220) - British Columbia, CANADA - DEC 15, 2011
pours amber orange (no surprise), micro CO2 with ringed retention, thin sticky lacing. A bit of malt on the nose. Aromas of mandarin orange and orange peel up front mixed with cutting-sharp chilled CO2 bubbles (stings the palate), and then finishes medium malty bitter - long and lingering bitterness. Viscosity is thinnish, low-medium complexity, low-medium length, low depth, and low carry. This beer is refreshing but it dies out fast in the mid and finish. I only enjoy the mandarin orange aroma, but one bottle is enough.

Bottle. Clear, medium amber, short-lived white cap, no lace. Aroma is dominated by tangerine skin with underlying cereal. Flavour is bitter orange peel and weak caramel malt. Finish is brief, bitterness is low.
2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 Lagerboy (419) - British Columbia, CANADA - DEC 3, 2010
UPDATED: MAR 11, 2012 Amber orange, thin white head. Malty aroma with some orange zest. Unfortunately the moderate bready malty character overpowers the odd orange fruit flavour. Medium bodied, average carbonation. Finishes slightly dry. LF (Lagerboy Friendly)
